2020-21 Student Meal Information The USDA Summer Food Service Program extended its waiver to allow ALL STUDENTS to receive FREE breakfast and lunch throughout the entire 2020-21 school year, regardless of family income-levels or proof of enrollment. In addition to providing free student meals during face-to-face instruction, Grab-and-Go style meals will be available for all students participating in the K-12 HCS Virtual Program and for students who are participating in Distance Learning days. CONGRATULATIONS! Anthony Antolak and the Mock Trial Team for winning the 2021 Regional Championship The team won the SC Bar, Conway Regional Mock Trial competition on Saturday! This regional was a randomly selected, 10 team regional, made up of teams across South Carolina. Please congratulate these students for their dedication and hard work. They started preparing for this competition in June, with over 10 virtual rounds. The next step will be the state competition March 11-13th. CONGRATULATIONS! Coach DeWalt, Coach Pertell and the boys’ varsity basketball team for representing CFHS well in the state playoffs. Although the season did not end as the Panthers had hoped, it was a great season for the program. They participated against some top-level competition in their first appearance in the Beach Ball Classic. The Panthers finished as Region VI-5A Champions by going undefeated in region play. With a final record of 16-5, the 76% winning percentage is tops in school history. They also set new school marks for scoring 73.3 ppg and three pointers made in a season (173). Corbin Pack was voted as the Region Player of the Year and to the SCBCA All State Team. Kyle Watkins, Mark Walker Jr., and Jonah Nesmith were all selected to the All Region Team. Coach DeWalt was voted the Region Coach of the Year.
CONGRATULATIONS! Coach Perdue and Panther Wrestlers Panther wrestlers competed well at the SCHSL 5A Individual Tournament Feb 28-29 in Anderson, SC. Jayson Jacoby placed 3rd at 152 lbs; Marlon Morales finished 4th at 182lbs. Isaiah Poppe (126lbs) and Braedon Bailey (106lbs) both finished 5th in their weight classes. As a team Carolina Forest placed 11th. Shout out to our Panther wrestlers that will be competing for an individual state championship on Saturday. National Honor Society Information: German National Honors Society If you are interested in joining the German National Honor Society, please read below criteria and submit your application by March 8th. Students must have completed 3 semesters of German courses or currently in German 3 right now. Students German GPA must be a 3.6, cumulative overall GPA must be a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. NJROTC: On January 21, 2021, Hunter Seda, a cadet in the Carolina Forest High School NJROTC unit, got recognized on MyHorryNews. Cadet Seda, in his 10th grade year, was ranked #20 for his academic knowledge. In Seda’s interview, he states “Captain Boyle teaches us a lot about leadership and life beyond the class.” He was recently accepted by the University of South Carolina’s elite Honors College. Hunter Seda is smart and has a great life ahead of him because of the steps he has taken in his younger years. Congratulations Cadet Hunter Seda and keep up the hard work. On February 23, 2021, the Carolina Forest NJROTC Academic Team were preparing for the Area 6 Brain Brawl competition. To prepare for this competition, they decided to do a virtual academic competition. The cadets who participated in this were c/ ENS V. Jordan, c/ H. Seda, c/ H. Whitmore, and c/ H. Christy. These cadets finished the preparing competition and they tied in 5th place. On February 26, 2021, the Carolina Forest High School NJROTC performed a color guard for the Anderson Oaks Assisted Living Home that was accepted by Debbie Orenkewicz. Barber Johnson, who was a 1st Sergeant and was in the Korean War, Norman Asborn, and William (Bill) Kirby, who was in the Navy and fought during World War II, were all veteran residents of the Anderson Oaks Assisted Living Home. Captain Kevin Boyle gave a speech about our program and why we do many things like this. The cadets who performed in this color guard were c/ J. Johnson, c/ LTJG K. Peebles, c/ LTJG S. Carroll, and c/ O. Hagan.
