GROUNDS UPDATE Twin Isles Maintenance Update, The golf course has been full of golfers nearly every day this year. It has been the start of a great season at Twin Isles. Since the last newsletter, we have received .5” of rain in December, 1.5” of rain in January, and .95” of precipitation so far for February. The forecast is not calling for any rain soon, so we are hoping that changes and we can get some more rain to fill the ponds back up to give us enough water to get through the droughty winters that commonly occur in this area in Florida. The ryegrass overseed that we applied in November has established very well, and the fairways and tees are holding up very nicely with all of the extra traffic that we have gotten from increased rounds this year. We have started spraying our fairways and tees monthly with a foliar fertilizer to keep the ryegrass going through the season. During the first week in February, we used our first application of a pre-emergent herbicide and fertilizer to the golf course. This pre-emergent application will help to prevent weed seeds from germinating in turfgrass. The target of these applications is to get the product down before the weeds start emerging when the weather does warm up. We will be applying another application at the end of March and a third application to follow in June. During February, we also applied mulch to the clubhouse area and refreshed the mulch in the parking lot. We will be receiving more mulch to finish the parking lot in the next few weeks. Some other things that we are planning on accomplishing over this winter will be to refresh all of the beds and waste areas we have around the course. We will be starting around the tee sign areas and working our way throughout the course. With the increased rounds that we have had this year, we ask that you please remember to fill your divots and repair ball marks on the greens. When you are waiting to putt, please fix your ball mark, and one more would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Preston Stephenson Thanks, Twin Isles Country Club | Page 3
