Seniors: Native American Scholarships at Weber State University. New for 2018-2019 One-year (two-
semester) award waivers for 50% of in-state tuition and general fees at Weber State only. This is open to
new freshmen and transfer students to Weber State University.

United States Marine Corps NTOTC Scholarship. This is a 4yr National Scholarship. You will need to

Seniors: American Police Hall of Fame Educational Scholarship. Applicants must be the son, daughter or
spouse of a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty. It is the intent of this program to not turn

Seniors: U of U Mining Engineering Department William Browning Scholarship. The Browning
Scholarship Endowment scholarship is to assist future generations of mining engineers in their quest for a
college education. Browning scholarships are available to current students, resident and nonresident,
entering freshmen, and transfer students from community colleges who are interested in pursuing a degree
in Mining Engineering.

Seniors: Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic
heritage obtain a university degree. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required, planning to enroll full-time in an
accredited, not-for-profit, four-year university for undergraduate and graduate students, and are a US
Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)

All: Twenty-Eight Annual Poster Contest. The Twenty-Eight Annual Poster Contest for High School
students is open to students from grades 9 through 12. This contest involves students creating a poster
with the theme and caption, “You can make a difference,” illustrating the idea that one person can change
the world for the better.

Seniors: The Vegetarian Resource Group. This scholarship is offered to high school students who have

Senior: Weber State University Ethics Scholarship. The Richards Institute provides annual "Ethics
Scholarships" to incoming high school seniors committed to Weber State University. Scholarship
funds assist these ethically minded students with tuition, fees, book expenses, and any other approved
educational costs. The application process is as follows:
   1. High school transcript including current GPA and ACT scores (unofficial copy, such as a scanned
       PDF is acceptable).
   2. Verification of high school graduation date by high school administrator (e.g., brief letter from
       guidance counselor).
   3. Submit a Letter of Recommendation (this can be from a teacher, community member, school
       administrator, etc.)
   4. Ethics Scholarship Application filled out.
   5. Submission of a 500-word ethics essay answering the following question:

When someone asks us to think of ethical issues, we often think of significant ethical dilemmas,
newsworthy political scandals, and weighty issues. Ethical philosophers from ancient times until now,
however, have repeatedly emphasized that being ethical starts with the small things we do everyday. In
that spirit, please write a thoughtful essay in which you write about a small episode, event, or encounter
from your own experience that taught you something about the importance of ethics.

Seniors: Life Lessons Scholarship. The loss of a parent or guardian is one of life’s most difficult ordeals.
The emotional strain can be devastating to children and young adults. And for too many families, an
untimely death also brings financial stress, making recovery all the more difficult. Participants need to
submit either a 500-word essay OR a 3-minutes video discussing how the death of your parent or guardian
affected your life financially and emotionally. Be sure to describe how the loss of your parent/guardian
impacted your college plans and explain how the lack of adequate life insurance coverage (or no coverage at
all) impacted your family’s financial situation.

All: DNA Day Essay Contest. This contest asks students to examine, question, and reflect on important
concepts in genetics. Essays are expected to be well-reasoned arguments indicative of a depth of
understanding of the concepts related to the essay question. They are evaluated by ASHG members
through three rounds of scoring.
