Last week’s student recognition for Week 5, Term 1 was Jack (Year 6) from Muliyan. assembly recognised the ongoing learning Congratulations Jack! In addition to our class and other awards, I was thrilled to be able to present additional Principal’s Awards to 2 students for outstanding citizenship and demonstrating empathy towards their peers. Serenity received her award for assisting a young student in the playground and Haami received his award for caring for a classmate that had fallen over whilst playing a game in the playground. Well done Serenity and Haami! Clean Up Australia Day Today was Clean Up schools day at JPS. Students cleaned up our school and it was looking pristine afterwards. Our PBL focus, “Rubbish in the Bin” will ensure our school remains clean and tidy at all times. Junee Public School Collaborative∞Respectful∞Communication School Uniform Wearing school uniform everyday promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for our school community. School uniforms also contributes to the personal safety of students by allowing easier recognition of students inside the school and in the wider community. It has been great to see almost all students wearing their summer uniform each day. However, with a few cooler mornings recently some students have been wearing a variety of different jumpers. Please be reminded that school jumpers are available to purchase from the office for a very reasonable $18. There may also be some suitable used items available from the clothing pool. Junee Public School In Geography, we have been learning about the continents of the world. Did you know that you could sail around the world? We created our own route for our trip around the world on a marvellous cruise ship! We are also learning about what the location of Australia is in the world and why knowing location is important. In Numeracy, we have been learning different addition strategies in class like the split strategy and the jump strategy on a blank number line. We have also been learning how to read time, specifically what the position of the minute hand means. Our focus so far has been on o’clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to. We have learnt about the seasons, months of the year with how many days in each month and what ascending and descending order are. Last week we understood the difference between vertical, horizontal and parallel lines and we got to draw a picture using all three types of lines. Page 7
Junee Public School We have been doing some fun art activities each week. We also do sport once a week where we are focussing PBL on coordinated movements of our body. It is important to display pride in our school and at the same time care for our delicate and precious environment. I would like to thank all student as we do our part to protect our environment and continue to make Junee a clean and lovely place to live. Here is some feedback from Gugaburra: Jaida H & Isaac C Mrs Dabin who convened the carnival "Thank you for sending your students to the carnival today. Tjurupuu Bagal: Levi S was highly engaging as he regaled us with stories of culture and performed using his didjeribone, didjeridoo Gurawung: Dane-Lee F and utilised his pedal board and face bass to create Muliyan: Emma H haunting songs on the spot. Some highlights were his student instrument remix and happy birthday performance to out own Glen Fanning. We were highly entertained and look forward to future school performances and cultural experiences. Page 9
Junee Public School Glen’s 50th Birthday Tell Them From Me Junee Public School celebrated our amazing volunteer In the coming weeks, students in Years 4-6 will complete Glen Fanning’s birthday this week. Happy birthday Glen! the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) survey. This survey captures the views of students on a number of critical aspects of school performance. The TTFM survey provides valid and reliable evidence that can be used for school self-assessment, planning and reporting. This data helps us to identify strengths and areas for improvement, assess the impact of current initiatives and inform future programs and policies. The focus of the TTFM survey is on student engagement and wellbeing. The survey provides information on a range of areas, such as teaching practices, student aspirations and leadership, from the perspective of our senior students. This data is relevant in assessing our school’s performance across the three School Excellence Framework domains of Learning, Teaching and Leading. The TTFM survey can help our school understand students’ perspectives on critical aspects of their school experience, such as social, institutional and intellectual engagement, wellbeing and exposure to quality teaching practices. All surveys are anonymous and used for the purpose of continuous school improvement only. Page 10
