3 2021 Member Event Introductory 2020 is finally over and we can only go up from here! We are scheduled to have all kinds of events that can be fun for all! We will host golf competitions for all varying ages and skills, so who is ready to play? There have been several improvements to the facilities since 2017, with the cost exceeding $1,000,000. The greens were converted from the aging bent grass to the fantastic Champion Ultra Dwarf Bermuda. The roofs were replaced on the range building and the on- course bathroom facility. The windows as well as the front doors were replaced in the clubhouse, as well as a full remodel inside of the golf shop. The steps to the back patio of the clubhouse and the front steps from the parking lot were repaired, and an awning was added over the patio. The pavilion was enclosed and several tee-boxes on the course were sodded and over 300 trees were removed to help with sunlight for turf growth. Irrigation improvements were made all over the course and the clubhouse grounds which will help tremendously in dry times of the year. A new practice putting green was installed behind the driving range and improvements to the landscape were made around the clubhouse and throughout the course. The renovations did not stop there. Last year, 2020, we continued with our cart path improvement plan. We also started replacing and installing railroad ties and upgrading the facility with new landscaping and individual irrigation heads. This year, we plan to clean the pond at #5 green, clean the #12 lake and enlarge the forward tee, remove some more trees throughout the property, improve and enlarge the lesson tee area, clean some underbrush on the course and continue our beautification project, and develop a new scorecard along with several other improvements. As you can see there is a lot of work going on at Wildwood Green in order to improve our services and the experience of being a member! We have many popular events scheduled this year which include a Ryder Cup event, Masters Par 3 Contest, Drive Chip Putt, 18-hole and 9-hole Couples Events, PGA Pools, and so much more. We hope everyone enjoys our robust member events schedule this year! See pages 7-8 on information regarding tournaments, handicapping, flighting, and handicap allowances to be sure you are well informed about how we execute our events. Thank you so much for being a member at Wildwood Green Golf Club and please help us by continuing to fill out comment cards. Let us know how we can continue to improve our events!

7 Tournament Information, Flighting Information, & Regulations Competition Tees: Each competitor’s set of tees to be played will be assigned to the competitor based on the set of tees most commonly played from in their most recent handicap revision. In the event other courses have been played, the staff will assign a tee based on the other course’s rating closest to that of a set of tees at Wildwood Green. Event Flighting: Events will be flighted in the Spring & Fall Member-Member events, the Tournament of Champions event, and the Club Championship. For other club events flights will depend on field size. When there are 15 or more teams (30+ competitors) flights will be created and broken down as evenly as possible. Flight Basis: Flights will be created by the lower handicap index of the team member using the current handicap index of the individual as of the day of the signup deadline. Handicap Indexes: The handicap index used for the event competitor will be the handicap index of each person on the day of the event signup deadline. Gross Payouts – Gross will only be paid out in Flight 1 of a flighted event. Handicap Allowances: *Please see the attached Appendix C document from the USGA regarding handicap allowances* Net handicaps when playing your own ball with a partner(s) will be reduced by 10% or 5% depending on your gender. 90% of the course handicap will be used for male competitors and 95% of the course handicap will be used for female competitors. During net events where competitors play their own ball, if the difference between the two teammates’ course handicap is more than 8 strokes after the 10% or 5% allowance, we will subtract an additional 10% from both players. 50% of the male competitor’s course handicap will be used and 55% of the female’s course handicap will be used in a Texas Scramble format. 10% of the combined team course handicap will be used in an 18 Hole Scramble format. 5% of the combined team course handicap will be used in a 9 Hole Scramble format. During match play events, each competitor will receive 100% of their course handicap and then the low course handicap will play as a zero and the higher course handicap will receive the difference in strokes.
8 Handicap Allowances Handicap allowances are designed to provide equity for players of all levels of ability in each format of play, over both 9 holes and 18 holes. Handicap allowances are applied to the Course Handicap as the final step in calculating a player’s Playing Handicap (see Rule 6.1 Course Handicap Calculation and Rule 6.2 Playing Handicap Calculation). The National Association is responsible for establishing handicap allowances or it can delegate this responsibility to a Regional Golf Association or golf club. The following table sets out the recommended handicap allowances based on medium-sized field net events. The allowances may be adjusted based on field size and the desired equity (see Interpretation C/1 ): Format of Play Type of Round Recommended Handicap Allowance Individual 95% Individual Stableford 95% Individual Par/Bogey 95% Stroke play Individual Maximum Score 95% Four-Ball 85% Four-Ball Stableford 85% Four-Ball Par/Bogey 90% Individual 100% Match Play Four-Ball 90% Foursomes 50% of combined team handicap Greensomes 60% low handicap + 40% high handicap Pinehurst/Chapman 60% low handicap + 40% high handicap Best 1 of 4 stroke play 75% Best 2 of 4 stroke play 85% Best 3 of 4 stroke play 100% All 4 of 4 stroke play 100% Other 25%/20%/15%/10% Scramble (4 players) from lowest to highest handicap Scramble (2 players) 35% low/15% high Total score of 2 match play 100% Best 1 of 4 Par/Bogey 75% Best 2 of 4 Par/Bogey 80% Best 3 of 4 Par/Bogey 90% 4 of 4 Par/Bogey 100% Unless otherwise specified by the Committee, players with a ‘plus’ Playing Handicap give strokes back to the course, beginning at the hole with stroke index 18. For example, a player with a Playing Handicap of +2 would give strokes back to the course at the holes with stroke index 18 and 17. When handicap allowances are applied, a player with a plus Playing Handicap moves up towards zero including rounding. This is to maintain the same relative difference between Playing Handicaps.

With golf and social events scheduled year-round your enjoyment at the club never ends! If there are any social events that you would like to see added to our event schedule, please fill out a comment card with your requests. More information about a few of these special social events can be found below. Poker Night: The game of Texas Hold ‘Em is played at all of our scheduled poker nights. Couples Golf We host our Couples Golf events throughout the Fall, Spring and Summer seasons. These 9-hole golf events are always a fun way to meet other couples at the club. We have had incredible participation over the past few years and it seems that every year the participation grows and it has turned into our most popular 9-hole competition. Our couple’s events are held Sunday evenings and then followed by a delicious dinner provided by Champions Grille. This year we have included an 18-hole couples Member-Guest to kick off the season! The format for most of our couple events is a four-person team, net captain’s choice. Two couples will be paired together and a percentage of their team handicap is factored in to get their final net score. During the golf tournament we host proximity games for both men and women and prizes will be available for each. Spouses who do not play golf are welcome to join us for dinner after play for a small fee. We hope to see all the couples out at these events this year!

Carolinas Golf Association Events The Carolinas are home to hundreds of golf tournaments each year that appeal to a wide range of skill levels. The CGA administers its own calendar of championships, considered one of the strongest tournament programs in the country, as well as USGA qualifiers for national events. Whether you're a scratch golfer looking to qualify for the U.S. Open or Carolinas Amateur Championship, or a mid-level handicap wanting to participate in one of the CGA's individual or team events, there is an opportunity for you to play. These events are open to members of CGA Member Clubs who have up-to-date CGA/USGA handicap indexes. The CGA annually conducts 48 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. Please note that you are a member of the CGA with your paid GHIN handicap at Wildwood Green Golf Club. The CGA conducts over 100 One-Day tournaments that are open to both men and women with a CGA membership and an up-to-date CGA/USGA handicap index from a CGA member club. In 2021, we plan to host the Jack Ratz Jr. Memorial, a CGA one-day event, and a senior 4- ball event.
14 50/50 Weekly Member Raffle We will host a 50/50 weekly member raffle in order to help raise money for capital improvements around the Wildwood Green facility. Improvements will be determined from customer comment cards and what is feasible for the club to accomplish. The drawing will occur at 4:00 PM each Friday throughout the year. There is one poker chip per membership in the bowl and each membership has been assigned a number which corresponds to what is written on the poker chip. Poker chips are placed into the bowl and a member will draw one chip from the bowl. (Participants must pay their $5 entry each week to be eligible to win.) Each Friday when the chip is drawn, we will check the number on the chip and then find out which membership that corresponds with. If the membership has paid their $5 entry for that week, they win 50% of the pool. Each week Wildwood Green will take 50% of the entries and put into a capital dues improvement fund. If the membership did not pay their entry that week and no winner is determined for the week and the money carries over to the next week. Members have the option to prepay their $5 for as many weeks as they would like. With almost three years under our belt hosting the 50/50 raffle (first drawing was February 9th, 2018) we have raised a total of $44,840 from our members. Out of this total we have paid out $22,420 in winnings. In 2019 we added benches throughout the course and we installed an ice-water machine. In 2020, we purchased an additional ice-water machine for the halfway house. This means you will have easy access to tasty ice-water when you are at both the halfway house and the clubhouse. Keep entering each week and help us improve the facility...you might be another lucky one who takes home thousands of dollars!
15 2021 Major Event Pools Every year we host Major Championship Pools at Wildwood Green in conjunction with the PGA Tour’s major events. These individual net challenges will begin two weeks before the Major Championship’s first round and payout will be in Wildwood Green gift cards.
