Let’s Remember Our College Students During Valentine’s Week
First…… Make sure we have your student’s correct address. We would like an
accurate count by January 26th so Jean Stewart has time to make cards. Call or email the
church office. Cards will be available to sign on February 2nd in the Library. The
beautiful cards and well wishes from the congregation are certainly a highlight of the
packages for the students.
Second…..Between now and February 9th when you are doing your weekly grocery
shopping pick up individually wrapped snack items….such as chex mix, gold fish,
crackers, nuts, chips popcorn, gum, mints and any other items that come to mind.
Jean Stewart suggests rolls of quarters for whatever they may need…. more snacks or
laundry money.
We will do your shopping for you, if you prefer. Mark your check accordingly and have
your money to Abby by the 2nd of February. There are a couple of boxes in the library
marked “Care Packages”….so, every week drop a few more items in…. our young
people will appreciate it.
And last, but not least…….Our Ministry Team and any other interested members
will assemble the boxes immediately after worship on February 9th in the Library.

Leader: In the beginning, we were created in God’s image.
People: And the word was with God, and the word was God.

People: All things came into being through Christ, and without Christ not one thing
           has come into being.
Leader: God saw everything God had made, and it was very good.
People: What has come into being in Christ was life, and the life was the light of all
           people.
Leader: We are created in God’s image. We are created to be good. We are created to be
           loved.
All: We are God’s light in this world. Let us worship Christ and be the light.

*PRAYER OF ADORATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
…Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will
be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us
our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION
Leader: Remember that our Lord Jesus can sympathize with us in our weaknesses, since in
every respect he was tempted as we are, yet without sin.
People: Let us then with boldness approach the throne of grace that we may receive
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Leader: Let us confess our sins against God and neighbor.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)
Merciful God, in baptism you promise forgiveness and new life, making us part of the
body of Christ. We confess that we remain preoccupied with ourselves, separated from
sisters and brothers in Christ. We cling to destructive habits, hold grudges, and show
reluctance to welcome one another; we allow the past to hold us hostage. In your loving
kindness, have mercy on us, and free us from sin. Remind us of the promises you make
in baptism so that we may rise to new life, and live together in grace.

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF GOD'S PARDON
Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the
name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
All: May the God of mercy, who forgives all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.

                                   WE HEAR GOD'S WORD
