Golf Shop News A LETTER FROM THE GROUNDS DEPARTMENT September brings about the start of our most anticipated bunker pro- ject. It's been 14 years since any significant work has been completed to all the bunkers on the course. Work will begin around the middle of this month and will continue through the winter months. Obviously, weather plays a big part in the completion of the work. With this in mind, our goal is to finish by the end of May. The work will consist of the following steps: 1. Removing the old sand 2. Evaluating the drainage and replacing where needed 3. Making minor revisions when necessary to the bunker floors and banks 4. Installing a permanent liner to help mitigate washouts and contamination John Chassard 5. Place new sod around all the bunkers Director of Grounds 6. Install the new sand to proper depths and compact. 610.967.4643 (As with any new sand there is a period of time for the sand to settle in) jchassard@lehighcc.com The course will remain open throughout the project. The 19th hole and short game area will be completed first. A hole on the course may be closed at times to keep the contractor as efficient as possible. The 19th hole will then be utilized during those hole closures to be sure the golfer has 18 holes to enjoy. The bunker project is part of an ongoing course Master Plan to maintain the integrity of the original William Flynn design while improving the playability and enjoyment of the course. As always, please reach out to myself or a Grounds Committee member with any questions or concerns. Thank you, John Chassard Director of Grounds Lehigh Express September 2021 9
