Here are some details to be aware of; SCHEDULE • The schedule has been changed to accommodate 10 teams and the Banquet (mandatory attendance) will be Saturday, March 16 @ 7:00 pm. Teams will be assigned their games by BC Hockey. • Games will commence the morning of Sunday, March 17, see schedule attached. BC FERRIES • Please see the attached BC Ferries schedules for both Horseshoe Bay to Langdale & Earls Cove to Saltery bay. The last connecting ferry from Earls Cove that will get you to Powell River in time for the banquet leaves at 5:05pm. I suggest traveling earlier in the day on the 12:40 pm sailing. Please contact BC Ferries directly to check on sailings. ACCOMODATIONS • Originally, we had blocked out the accommodations for Saturday, March 16 through to Wednesday, March 20 and so there are limited options for teams looking to arrive on Friday. Please contact our Accommodations Coordinator - Lisanne English lisanne@englishgroup.ca for info regarding your hotel. CHAMPIONSHIP APPAREL Championship apparel is available from OTB Team Sales, use the following link to view https://2019-pee-wee-tier-3.itemorder.com/ the products and place your orders. Orders that are placed prior to March 7 will be shipped directly to Powell River and available for your team to pick up. GENERAL INFORMATION The championship game schedule will be available after all teams have qualified and BC Hockey has finalized the draw. Teams are recommended to travel to Powell River on Saturday, March 16. (See "Transportation" - p. 8). All teams will be given practice ice on Sunday, March 17. Games will commence on the morning of Monday, March 18. All events will take place at the Powell River Recreation Complex, 5001 Joyce Avenue. The Championship Banquet will take place on Sunday, March 17 at 6:00 PM in the Arbutus Room of the Recreation Complex, attendance is mandatory. The coaches meeting will be held in the Poplar Room of the Recreation Complex, immediately following the banquet. Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:00 PM on March 18 for all teams. Closing ceremonies will take place on March 21, immediately following the gold medal game. BC Hockey PeeWee Tier 3 Provincials 3
YOUR HOST CITY: POWELL RIVER The City of Powell River and Powell River Minor Hockey Association welcomes all participants to the 2019 BC Hockey PeeWee Tier 3 Provincial Championship! Since the 1950's, Powell River has had an extensive history of hockey, hosting numerous Provincial and National Championships. Our Powell River Regals have won three Allan Cups, two in Powell River, and a Hardy Cup National Title here in 1970. We have also been home to the Powell River Kings of the BCHL for the past 30 years. PRMHA has hosted a number of Provincial Championships and we are very excited to be this year's site and host for the PeeWee Tier 3 Provincial Championship! BC Hockey PeeWee Tier 3 Provincials 4
ACCOMMODATIONS & RESTAURANTS Hotels have been secured by the host and will be distributed once teams have qualified for the Championship. Our Accommodations Coordinator, Lisanne English, can be contacted at lisanne@englishgroup.ca for any assistance you may require. A listing of our hospitality partners (restaurants) will be sent to all teams prior to the Championship. We will be glad to assist with any team meal reservations you may require. POWELL RIVER RECREATION COMPLEX All events for this year's championship will be held at the Powell River Recreation Complex, 5001 Joyce Avenue. Built in 1975, the Complex remains one of Western Canada's finest recreation facilities. Amenities include: the 1500-seat "Hap Parker" Arena, one full-size practice rink, aquatic centre, fitness studio, theatre, banquet hall, and numerous meeting rooms. Dressing room assignments, practice ice, equipment storage, and other facility issues will be handled by our Facilities Coordinator. BC Hockey PeeWee Tier 3 Provincials 6
AMENITIES Medical Facilities - The Powell River General Hospital is located directly across from the Complex at 5000 Joyce Avenue. We will have professional paramedic/training staff available at all games for any injuries or emergency situations. Sports Store - Taw's Cycle & Sports, your one-stop hockey shop, is located at 4597 Marine Avenue. (604) 485-2555. Entertainment - The Patricia Theatre, the longest running movie theatre in Canada, is located in the Historic Townsite at 5848 Ash Avenue. TRANSPORTATION Powell River is located on the Upper Sunshine Coast, approximately 90 miles north of Vancouver. We are on the mainland, not Vancouver Island, and can be accessed by vehicle via BC Ferries, or by flight through Pacific Coastal Airlines. For BC Ferry service, please go to www.bcferries.com for current scheduling. It is imperative to coordinate your travel plans accordingly. Teams travelling from Vancouver will depart from the Horseshoe Bay Terminal in North Vancouver to Langdale Terminal, approximately 40 minutes. From Langdale, a 1 hour and 15-minute drive will take them to Earl's Cove, where they will board another ferry to Saltery Bay, approximately 50 minutes. Plan on approximately 4.5-5 hours of travel time. It is recommended that all teams travel to Powell River on Saturday, March 16th. All teams will be given practice ice on Sunday, March 17th. Flying into Powell River via Pacific Coastal Airlines is a quick, 25-minute journey from the South Terminal of Vancouver International Airport. For scheduled flights, go to www.pacificcoastal.com.
