PCC WILL BE CLOSED PCC staff helps to coordinate this program and makes MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY the center available for appointments. Due to COVID restrictions and reduction in tax preparer volunteers, MONDAY, JANUARY 17 there will be a reduced number of appointments in 2022. While tax preparation is free. donations to cover the cost of PCC coordinating this service are needed and greatly appreciated.
Winter is Time for the Return of Toni’s Soup WEDNESDAY JANUARY 26 STUFFED PEPPER SOUP WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 23 CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP Members have asked for Toni’s soup to return. PCC is answering the call. Stop by the Café between 10:00AM -2:00PM to purchase some delicious homemade soup. Cup $3.00 Bowl $4.00 Quarts must be ordered and paid for in advance. Call the front desk Quart $8.00 to order. 412-795-2330. Order forms available at the front desk or on the website at www.plumcommunitycenter.org Masks must be worn inside the PCC facility. PCC will continue to monitor CDC mandates, PA State Health Department, and local Allegheny County Health Department guidelines. We will inform our members if operations or standards change. PCC will continue to require you to enter through the front doors and we will conduct temperature checks as you enter the building. If your temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees, you will not be allowed entry to the building even if you are fully vaccinated. If you are not feeling well, please stay home • If you are not vaccinated, you are required to properly wear a mask for your safety and the safety of others. At this time, proof of vaccination is not needed. We work on the honor system. • Updates to PCC policies will be communicated in person, via direct mail, email, and the website. To help us plan for materials and safe distancing we encourage all participants of PCC programs to sign up and make a reservation. Reservations can be made by: 1. Calling the center 412-795-2330. Our staff will take your reservation 2. Email to pccinfo@plumboro.com Send us an email indicating the program you wish to attend. 3. Sign up in person when you visit the center. Sign-up sheets for our programs will be in the Plum Café. We will do our best to accommodate walk-ins to our programs. Individuals who registered will get first entry to all programs and events. We ask you to inform us if you need to cancel a reservation. Programs with fees attached must be cancelled within 4 hours of the event to receive a refund.

Date: Friday January 14th (MUST register at front desk by Tuesday January 4) Menu: Chicken Salad w/ cranberries/leaf lettuce on multi- grain bread, tomato/cucumber w/ Italian dressing, and banana Date: Friday January 28th (MUST register at front desk by Tuesday January 18) Menu: Cold Roast Beef w/Swiss cheese on wheat bun. Broccoli slaw, potato salad and apricot halves. Date: Friday February 11th (MUST register at front desk by Tuesday February 1) Menu: Tuna Salad, Israeli salad, vinegar/dill pickle potato salad, roll, sliced pears **Due to COVID regular congregant lunches will not resume until the end of March 2022. Allegheny County has made boxed lunches available on limited basis. You must register to participate. Lunches are meant to be eaten at the Center. Meals offered as a free service to the community, small donations are appreciated to help cover PCC’s cost of the lunch. Other Noteworthy News: Did you know the Lions Club accepts glasses donation and pill bottles? Bottles are donated to a non-profit, Matthew 25, who ship them overseas where they are used to safely distribute needed medicine. This helps people in need and aids in recycling. Glasses donation box is in PCC’s café, and please see Samantha to donate used pill bottles. (Please remove all labels) Get fit in 2022. Start the year of right with PCC’s Silver Sneakers Classes. See the schedule in this newsletter. Get your heart healthy, do strength training and finish with chair yoga. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. PCC has the best instructors in Sonja Apperson, Anne Skreppen and Debbie Foster.

Would you believe for the past 20 years a group of volunteers has been performing at the center to sing and play a variety of music? The band is on winter break but if you wish to try something different, come learn to play guitar? Guitar lessons are free! Call PCC 412-795-2330 to schedule a lesson. If you progress, you can join the other volunteers to perform together!
Sock Snow People Thursday January 13 10:00AM – 12:00PM Instructor: Gerri Sollinger Join us to craft your own charming sock snow people! Bring your friends, PCC provides the craft supplies. Instructor: Karen Hochberg Help us to share handmade kindness. Come make cards for friends and family and our Meals on Wheels clients. PCC will offer beautiful papers, envelopes, stamps, and other fun supplies. Join us in person or call for a card kit (supplies for 4 cards and envelopes) you can pick up at the center. Suggested donation $3.00 Instructor: Karen Hochberg Join us while we decoupage small Valentine boxes! Learn decorating techniques and more. Limited number of boxes available so sign up early!
