Working Paper Series • Original aim: minimum of 6-8 papers in first year; 10 papers in subsequent years • 2017: 9 • 2018: 11 • 2019: 4 • 2020: 2 (+ 1 forthcoming) • After a good start, we are now lagging behind our goal • Increasingly, journal editors are against papers being published as a WP first • Even when editors don’t voice this, potential authors seem to think that publishing a WP would preclude them from submitting the paper to a journal (which shouldn’t be the case) FinGeo “Projects” page
FinGeo… Research/Projects http://www.fingeo.net/projects/ • Please send us info about your projects! • Deadline: 30th Oct 2020 • Email Martin sokolm@tcd.ie and Darek dariusz.wojcik@spc.ox.ac.uk • see FinGeo NNNo 193 for more details FinGeo Doctoral Dissertation Prize 2020 • 9 applications: 2-7 female/male applicants, less balanced than other years (covid-19?) • Disciplinary diversity (geographers, historians, economists, …): we cherish this but ask for a clear spatial component and a key contribution to financial geography • Review process by the board and regional ambassadors evaluating originality in relation to state of the art, soundness and novelty of the methodology, empirical nuance, and general style of the manuscript • General appraisal: excellent quality across the board stressing the vibrancy and talent of our Early Career scholars
FinGeo Doctoral Dissertation Prize 2020 This year’s winner is… Vincent Guermond Queen Mary University of London Contesting new ‘development frontiers’: The uneven financial incorporation of remittance flows and households in Senegal and Ghana In summary: • Join our email-list on www.fingeo.net • Join our forthcoming events • Submit Working Papers and blogs • Share your project link through our website • Share your ideas for future FinGeo activities • Watch out for vacancies and new roles on the FinGeo Executive Committee
