Summer 2022 exam series (using post-results services) We hope you were happy with your students’ results. If you need to access post results services, there’s guidance in this update. Key deadlines to work to: • 29 September 2022: deadline to request reviews of marking and moderation • 16 December 2022: end date for downloading students’ scripts from the June 2022 exam series using the free access to scripts service 3
Using post-results services: reminders • ATS: you need the ‘Exam Viewer’ profile ticked on Edexcel Online. Exams officers give teachers access to Exam Viewer. • You access student scripts via Edexcel Online, not via ResultsPlus • ResultsPlus: you need ‘resultsplus’ ticked on your Edexcel Online profile. Your exams officer amends your profile if it is not ticked. • How to download student results from ResultsPlus. • How to get examiner reports from ResultsPlus (easier from the qualification page). 4
Changes to Int GCSE English Language for June 2024 Changes to coursework, Assignment A: Poetry and Prose Texts Students write on 3, rather than 2 texts from Part 2 of the anthology The 3 texts must include poetry and prose There is no commentary Comparison is not assessed The word count is 1200 (advisory) Assignment B is unchanged See the guidance in the issue 4 specification See the updated Getting Started Guide See the exemplars for the new format coursework For the January 2023 and June 2023 exam series, continue to use the issue 3 specification. 5
Changes to Int GCSE English Language for June 2024 continued Paper 2 mark schemes have been changed so that the Paper 2 and coursework mark schemes are aligned. See the issue 3 sample assessment materials. Please note, for Paper 2 question 1, the AO1 mark grid has 4 levels and the AO2 mark grid has 5 (p. 73-74). For the January 2023 and June 2023 exam series, continue to use the issue 3 specification. 6
Onscreen assessment available for 4EA1 and 4ET1 in June 2023 Following our successful onscreen pilot of International GCSE exams in summer 2022, we’re excited to announce that you’ll be able to choose onscreen assessment for your students from summer 2023 for 4EA1 and 4ET1! There have been some incredibly positive findings and feedback from our journey so far: •90% of learners on the pilot felt after the final onscreen exam that their school should offer onscreen assessment for English exams in the future. •Students’ clear preference for a more engaging, personalised assessment experience through our onscreen platform. •The benefits of a more authentic assessment experience that builds the digital skills learners already have and will use in future study and the world of work. Take a look at our onscreen assessment homepage, where you can learn more about the opportunities and our focus on choosing where and how we best use technology to positively impact assessments and the lives of learners. 7
January 2023 exam series: plan for ‘back to usual’ delivery Neither AI nor adjustments are anticipated, however we are awaiting final conformation from the DfE and Ofqual. For 4ET1, Part 3 of the anthology (poetry) is assessed and Paper 1 returns to its usual length of 2 hours. Resit rules Entry deadline: 18 October 2022 Submission deadline for coursework and (optional) SLE grades and sample: 10 January 2023 Coursework marks and SLE grades are submitted on Edexcel Online Coursework samples will be submitted digitally on the LWT SLE: a sample of audio-visual recordings is required, submitted on the LWT Entry codes are listed at the end of the resit rules. 8
