COURSE SELECTION 2020-2021 ENTER YOUR CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR Tuesday, January 21st through Friday, February 7th

ENTERING CLASSES • Courses will be entered into Skyward using the Student’s log in • Once you log into your Skyward account your classes will already be populated through the “Career Plan” link. Courses are pre-populated at the academic level. You will need to adjust the level if needed (ex: PAP, AP, or Dual) • On-line video instructions: https://youtu.be/IdSRJqkW5mY • The course selection window does not open until Tuesday, Jan. 21st.
To adjust course level click on “Add Curriculum” STUDENT WILL CLICK ON “CAREER PLANS” TO VIEW THEIR POPULATED COURSES/FOUR YEAR PLAN.

GRADUATION PLANS ARE LINKED TO YOUR DECLARED ENDORSEMENT • Plans are pre-populated with courses to fulfill the endorsement you have declared in Skyward. • This allows you to: • see the classes you must take to fulfill the endorsement • plan out all four years of high school • see if you can fit all of your desired courses in or if you might want to consider taking a summer or correspondence course to get to the course(s) you’re interested in

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOUNDATION PLUS ENDORSEMENT • ENGLISH: 4 CREDITS • MATH: 4 CREDITS • SCIENCE: 4 CREDITS • SOCIAL STUDIES: 3/4 CREDITS • PE/EQUIVALENT: 1 CREDIT • LOTE: 2 CREDITS • FINE ARTS: 1 CREDIT • ELECTIVES/ENDORSEMENT: REMAINING CREDITS TO TOTAL 26 & FULFILL ENDORSEMENT

TIMELINE FOR COURSE SELECTION • Tuesday, January 21- Friday, February 7- Students will enter their desired courses for 2020-2021 into Skyward • Tuesday, January 21st- January 29th- Counselors will begin classroom presentations at GRHS through English classes and help students enter courses in computer labs • February 5th and 6th-Counselors will be at RJH in computer labs helping students enter courses in Skyward • February 3rd, 4th, and 7th-Counselors will be available during all lunches at GRHS for questions • February 11th-Counselors will be conducting one on ones with 8th graders at RJH • After February 11th- Counselors will meet with students individually following course selection to verify courses entered and will make any adjustments necessary to keep the student on track for meeting graduation requirements and fulfilling their endorsement

WHAT IS AN ENDORSEMENT? • Endorsements were created by the State of Texas under House Bill 5 which grouped courses together by interest and skill set. This provides students with an in-depth knowledge of a subject area. • This is part of the Foundation plus Endorsement 26 credit Graduation Plan.
