Social Media – Best Practices For Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn: • Limit post messaging to two or three helpful sentences, and avoid long-form messages unless it is a compelling story that could move or inspire your followers. • Always include a relevant visual (image or graphic) with your messages/posts. • Post consistently. Being consistent in the quality and types of posts you create can help people know what kinds of messages to expect from you and how they tie into your business or mission. • Post 2-4 times per week on Facebook and Instagram. On Twitter, you can post daily and even multiple times a day if you wish. Post 1-2 times per week on LinkedIn. • Start conversations by asking questions and responding. Posts that include a prompt for conversation or a question receive 70% above average engagement. • Respond within a day to relevant comments or questions on your posts to let fans know you’re active and listening. • Consider your audience. Before posting, ask yourself if the post is helpful to your followers. • Don’t forget a call-to-action when posting. For example, “Visit CoveredCA.com for more details.” 1
‘How to’ Instructions Captions and images can be used on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn. 1. Copy and paste the caption from the post you’d like to share.
