Release 5.5b: Patch Files (Release Date 13 February 2021) ➢ Ghana: SSNIT Maximum Insurable Earnings The Social Security National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the National Pension Authority (NPA) have issued a public notice to inform employers that the monthly salary cap for Tier 1 has been reviewed from GHC25 000 to GHC35 000. This means that the maximum Tier 1 contribution made by both the employee and employer should be 13.5% X GHC35 000 = GHC4 725. The review takes effect from January 2021. Take Note: If you make use of the Excess SNNIT Tier 1 calculation, released in R55b, then the SSNIT values for the year will be recalculated and deducted in the current period. ➢ Issues Resolved Issue Description When selecting to run Step two on the ETI Validation tool, the system hangs in the following scenario: An employee with a Date engaged in a prior year, e.g. 2020, but only receiving income for the first time in RSA: ETI Validation Tool – this year, e.g. 2021 Step 2 In this scenario the ETI record for 2020 did not create for the employee, resulting in the system hanging due to the record that does not exist. Release 5.5b (Release Date 19 January 2021) 1.1 Africa Tax Changes Tax Country Brief Description of Change Eswatini (Swaziland) Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) maximum contribution per month per employee increased from E290 to E310. Effective January 2021 Ghana Software has been adjusted to accommodate the calculation of SSNIT Excess Tier 1 to be paid to the Tier 2 fund. Ghana Tax bracket issue resolved. The percentage in the 4th bracket has been corrected. Lesotho Lesotho has implemented a Final Deduction System (FDS). To accommodate this change in the system the following option is now available in the system: “Company > Company Miscellaneous > ‘Use the Average Tax formula’. To apply this change to all employees go to: Payroll > Global Activation > Average/Normal Tax Kenya Tax Table Changes. Effective January 2021 Zambia Tax Table changes . Effective January 2021 Zimbabwe Tax Table changes. Release 5.5a (Release Date 04 September 2020) 1.1 RSA: Mid-year Submission The following applies to companies set up for Tax Country: South Africa. 1.1.1 New IRP5 Codes • IRP5 Code 3724: Amounts paid by any Covid-19 Disaster Relief Organisation (IT) • IRP5 Code 4055: COVID-19 Solidarity Fund Donations • IRP5 Code 3618: Annuity from a Provident/Provident Preservation Fund (PAYE) Remember to update your payroll codes where applicable 1.1.2 IRP5 Validations Amended 1.2 RSA: SDL Contribution Holiday Employers who are registered for SDL are exempt from the SDL liability and payment from 1 May 2020 – 31 August 2020. As from the first pay period in September you need to set the SDL Percentage back to one percent. 1.3 Flexi Leave Import and Export The Flexi Leave Import and Export utility will enable you to easily import leave transactions, make changes to employee leave day screens and export leave related information. Flexi Leave Export will also assist with reconciliations. The Flexi Leave Import and Export utility is available for all tax countries who are licensed for the Leave Module. The new menu option is available under: Interfaces > Flexi Utility > Leave Information > Control Screen 1.4 In-System Support: Live Chat and Pegg Chat can be accessed by clicking on the Chat button wherever you see it on the screen and then proceed to complete the fields. Pegg is our Sage Chatbot. Pegg can be accessed by clicking on the Ask Pegg button wherever you see it on the screen. Once open, you can move the window around. 1.5 Africa Tax Changes 1.5.1 Angola Tax Law No. 28/20 of 22 July has been approved, indicating that the tax table for the tax on Employment Income will change.
