Pastor's Corner: In the Danish hymnbook, #725, we find one of our new hymns written by the now deceased Bishop, Johannes Johansen, called “Det dufter lysegrønt af græs”. Actually, the hymn is originally Swedish, written in 1889 by Carl David of Wirsén, but translated into Danish between 1985 -1996. From there it has been translated into English by Edward Broadbridge in 2009 as, “The scent of grass per- vades the air.” The hymn has a fantastic melody which makes it easy to learn. In its 5 verses the hymn lets the the book of Revelation, this hymn ends with the same beauty of Spring and Summer preach to us about God’s prayer: Come again, Jesus! When He returns, Earth and glory and power in creation. Meet our New Renters: Annie and Peter, a young couple from the Hosanna Congregation are renting the house east of the Church. Services in Danish This summer there will be worship services in Danish on June 13th; July 11th, and August 8th. All of these ser- vices will be at 10:00 am. As usual the service will be written out in English and put on the big screen, so every- one in our congregation can follow along! Bible Study Group! Despite the rise in Covid 19 numbers we are still allowed to meet in our study group and, until now, nobody has felt unsafe. Our Study group is called, “About Jesus”; and we are reading different New Testament texts in a meditative way. We then see if the texts open up for us in a different way than when they are presented during a service. Eve- ry time we meet we work with a new text, so newcomers won’t find it hard to join in. Summer Bible Day Camp at the Danish Lutheran Church 210 –10th Ave., NE “Truly Terrific Trees” Stories, songs, crafts, science, games, snacks (bring your own lunch). 8:30 – 5:00 pm daily, August 16-20, 2021. For children ages 4 –12 years. Cost: $25 for the whole week for first child in a family and $15 for any other child from the same family.
