Greeneville Federal Bank and Johnson City Toyota Present the 17th Annual Bob Kesling Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Classic Friday, July 24, 2020 Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tennessee The Bob Kesling Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Classic has raised more than $1 Million for the Youth of Greeneville & Greene County since it started in 2004. The event has provided funding for many programs and activities that have helped to get many children started in the right direction. The Boys & Girls Club is an award winning after-school and summer program that provides a place for kids to learn and grow with a wide array of activities that inspire and enable them to reach their full potential. The Boys & Girls Club has approximately 500 registered Club members and serves over 2,000 different children each year. The Boys & Girls Club serves over 35,000 snacks and meals annually to the youth of Greeneville & Greene County. For over 20 years, the Boys & Girls Club has been in the forefront of youth development for our community, working with young people from many different economic, social and family circumstances. We are dedicated to ensuring that all of our community’s youngsters have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures with hope and opportunity. Summers Taylor Wins Championship at the 16th Annual Bob Kesling Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Classic The Summers Taylor team shot a low score of 54 to claim the team championship at the 16th Annual Bob Kesling Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Classic. The event, title sponsored by Landair and SumiRiko Tennessee, was held Friday, June 14, 2019 at Link Hills Country Club. The golf classic had a large field of golfers with many former college and pro athletes and coaches playing in the 2019 event. The Summers Taylor team shot a 54 and won the tournament champions on a scorecard playoff. The winning team consisted of Lucas Tabor, Sasha Catron, Todd Ricker, Heath Pruitt and John Bowman. Tournament runner-up was the C&C Millwright team consisting of Eddie Harmon. Bodie Bible, Tony Patterson, Jerry Fortner and former Tennessee basketball and NBA All Star Dale Ellis. The Appalachian Forest Products team finished third in the championship flight with Jim Harrison, Katy Hutcherson, Dylan Payne, Anthony Payne and Tusculum Pioneers assistant football coach Cody Edwards. Imerys Fused Minerals captured the First Flight title with a 56 and was led by Jerry Lane, Kevin Casteel, Daniel Ricker, Ricky Susong and former NHRA Pro Stock Racing World Champion Allen Johnson. The Go Bucs! Team took 2nd place in the First Flight with Ben Ezell, LeAnne Click, Chris Click, Dakota Love and ETSU Women’s Basketball Coach Brittney Ezell. Greeneville Light and Power # 1 took the second flight with a 60 behind the play of Brent Dugger, Bill Carroll, John Beech, TJ Freshour and former Tennessee Volunteer & New Orleans Saints quarterback Dewey Warren. The David M. Ellis, CPA team was the second flight runner up behind the play of Mickey Ellis, Burton Ellis, Joe Hall and Kyle Moore. Other celebrities that participated in this year’s social and golf event included Tennessee Volunteer and NBA Champion Reggie Johnson, former Atlanta Falcons Coach Mike Smith, former UT & Atlanta Falcons running back Haskell Stanback, UT 1998 National Champion and former NFL player Eric Westmoreland, Tusculum University Coaches Jerry Odom, Devin Carter and Brandon Steele, former Tennessee Volunteer Basketball players Jon Higgins, Damon Johnson and Shane Williams. Former UT Lady Vols and Duke Women’s basketball assistant coach Al Brown. Former Vols that played in the NFL included Neil Clabo with the Minnesota Vikings, Anthony Hancock with the Kansas City Chiefs, Bobby Scott with the New Orleans Saints. Former New York Jets Punter Chuck Ramsey played, as well as former Tennessee Volunteer football standouts including Bill Baker, Bill Rudder, Jeff Olszewski, Joe Thompson, Jani Trupovnieks and Tony Wilhoit. Prior to tee off on Friday, Scott Crawford took the top honors in the Putting Contest sponsored by Greeneville Federal Bank. Justin Burns won the long drive contest Sponsored by Mortgage Investors Group. Closest to the Hole contests sponsored by Taylor Law Firm winners included Brent Dugger at #3, Hunter Hartman at #6, Harrison Thompson at #14 and Jim Harrison at # 16. Top honors for the Link Hills Country Club Track Man distance game contest went to Bill Rudder. Food and Drinks for the event were provided by Fatz Café, Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen, Pizza Inn and Coca-Cola of Morristown. This annual event benefits the local Boys & Girls Club and was title sponsored by Landair and SumiRiko Tennessee. On Thursday night prior to the event the Boys & Girls Club held their 4th annual Golf Ball Drop sponsored by Johnson City Toyota, Pizza Inn and Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen. The golf balls were dropped by Sevier County Choppers on the 18th fairway with a chance for participants to win up to $5,000 cash. Travis Smith was the big winner from the golf ball drop as his ball was the closest to the hole and he won the $5,000 cash prize. Other sponsors for the Golf Ball Drop included Coca Cola, Cooks Mechanical Services, Fatz Café, Greeneville Oil & Petroleum, the Greeneville Reds/Boyd Sports, and Lowes Home Improvement. JB and the Wild Honey Band provided entertainment at the Golf Ball Drop social event. On Friday, the Golf Classic event started with a lunch provided by Fatz Café and sponsored by Forward Air and Cook’s Mechanical Services, followed by a round of golf and the evening was capped off with a steak buffet dinner sponsored by C&C Millwright and Summers Taylor. The event awards reception was also sponsored by C&C Millwright and Summers Taylor and other major sponsors of the 2019 event included A Services Group, Dakota Packaging Solutions, Grand Rental Station, Greene County Express, Hampton Inn by Hilton, Judge Ken Bailey, Judge Tom Wright, The Vol Network, TIS Insurance of Knoxville and Tom & Carla Bewley. “Bob Kesling’s efforts toward this event are tremendous. We had a fantastic turnout from the celebrity golfers for our tournament again this year” stated Nick Hirschy, Co-Chairman of the tournament. “We are very fortunate to have people willing to take time out of their busy schedules to help support the youth of Greeneville and Greene County by participating in our golf event.” Kesling stated, “It is a great honor to be involved with the Boys & Girls Club. The impact the Boys & Girls Club makes on the youth in this community is priceless. I hope that our tournament will help provide some additional funding for this great organization and the youth of Greeneville and Greene County.” Since its inception the Bob Kesling Celebrity Golf Classic has raised over one million dollars for the local Boys & Girls Club.
