Timiskaming District Secondary School 90 Niven Street New Liskeard, Ontario, POJ 1P0 Before you apply to College or University... Research program choices using the search tools at www.myblueprint.ca, www.ontariocolleges.ca, and https://www.ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca/. Look at specific Admission Requirements charts and review the marks that you need in order to apply to the program. Don’t apply if you won’t have the required courses and marks. The “true” grades that the college/ university uses for admission may be significantly higher than those % marks listed in the selection books/ online. The actual acceptance benchmark will be determined by your applicant pool for that program. It can be misleading! READ the college’s or university’s publications. READ your emails from O.C.A.S./O.U.A.C., and from your chosen schools. Follow the instructions and steps to avoid frustration. Follow the strict deadlines because they stick to them! Schools set deadlines for applications, extra forms the schools request, pre-admission testing, award applications, residence deposit fees, etc. Use a valid email address that is “appropriate and professional” for future correspondence and always include your name and O.C.A.S. or O.U.A.C. number in emails and telephone calls. Keep these numbers readily accessible. If you applied to colleges last year but returned to TDSS, you will already have an O.C.A.S. account! Don’t try to make another one. Contact O.C.A.S. if you have forgotten your password. Read the Application User Guide and watch the step-by-step application tutorials before completing your application or before making an appointment with your assigned Guidance Counsellor. 7
