http://www.st-joseph.school.nz/ Serving with Faith and Love 16 March 2020 Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Namaste, Bula, Malo ni, Makadini, Annyoung, Witamy, Welcome, Today’s reading is from Luke 4: 24-30. Jesus laments that he is not accepted among his own people. He recalls the prophets Elijah and Elisha and how they cared for a widow and a leper outside their own community. Jesus’ admonition is not a selfish act, as though he was seeking adulation, but rather a warning to the people of Nazareth that they had an opportunity to receive the word of God, and refused. It is also a declaration that the salvation of God is not just for Israelites but for whomever God chooses. We are blessed to be the recipients of the Lord’s healing words of mercy and forgiveness. (pg. 107 Daily Prayer 2020) Covid-19 We ask that everyone please check their emails regularly regarding updates from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health regarding the Covid-19 virus. Here are some notices from the Ministry of Health on how to protect yourselves and others. • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or by covering your mouth and nose with tissues. • Put used tissues in the bin or a bag immediately. • Wash your hands with soap and water often. • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell. • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean. • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects, such as doorknobs. • Stay home if you feel unwell and call Healthline on 0800 358 5453. As of 1.00am Monday 16th any persons arriving into NZ have to isolate themselves for 14 days on their arrival back on New Zealand soil. This will be strictly adhered to at St Joseph’s. Sea week clean-up Room 6 have enjoyed learning about how un-sustainable plastic rubbish is in our environment. How it breaks into smaller pieces and becomes micro-plastics in the ocean. We have learnt how microplastics are eaten by plankton and small fish and are now being eaten by us. The school has removed the playground rubbish bins and now everyone brings a zero-waste lunchbox or takes their rubbish home. Like King Midas all that we touch has turned to plastic (not gold).
“At first King Midas received a gift from the gods of war and was delighted because everything he touched turned into gold. But it became a horror. The food that he ate turned into gold but then when he went to hug his daughter then she turned into gold too. He just couldn’t take it anymore and so he hid the gift. Now something has happened to us too. Plastic! Now our oceans got polluted and our land became polluted too and now this has also become a horror to us.” by Rainbow Room 6
Room 9 Park clean-up Room 9 also decided to clean up our local park. Some of our children were amazed how people could disrespect our environment and just throw rubbish on the ground and especially near a rubbish bin! UNIFORM Our new uniform is looking great. The children are enjoying the freshness and the ease of wearing something that they can run and play in. Please note that we have two uniforms at the moment and I ask that the children wear either one or the other. As noted in the letter of 28th October, 2019, only the new uniform is for sale. If you have the old uniform then please be assured that your children can still wear it for another 2 years. We do ask that they don’t mix and match except for the jumpers. The old navy blue jumpers can be worn with the new uniform. The PE uniform is a light blue polo shirt or t-shirt and black shorts. After School Care After school care is available and will be in the Library, Room 8 every day from 3.15 – 5.20pm Monday to Friday, $6.00 per session. There is a discount for more than 1 child. Consent forms Thank you to all the families who have sent in their updated details and consent forms. As you can see this information is extremely important now, with everything that is happening. Unfortunately there are still 7 families that have not returned them. I ask that this be done immediately for the safety of your children.

You have the chance to meet all sorts of people and let your creative streak run riot! This is a fun industry in which to express those ideas you have about how to make a home look its very best to attract attention online and get lots of people to the open homes during the marketing campaign. The fact that this business can be operated in school hours is a real bonus. I have eight sets of furniture, warehoused locally. I have developed strong relationships with real estate agents who use my services regularly. My clients have given me glowing testimonials, so you would be taking over a business with happy clients and a great reputation. It has a beautiful website already done which acts as the perfect shop front for your business. I will show you the ropes and get you set up to run the business successfully during the handover period; using the many templates and operating procedures I have developed.
