K-2B have been working extremely hard in all aspects of their learning. We cook each Monday. During this time we try new food, learn table manners and help each other with setting and packing up after we have eaten. We have the best skilled children with washing up, packing away and cleaning! We love visiting the library on Tuesday. Mrs Reichert told us that we all qualified for the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. We will be waiting with excitement to receive our certificates! Buddies, thank you to all of the children who volunteer their time to visit our room and enjoy the company of K-2B children in the playground. For Father’s Day, we made key rings and made dishcloth wipes into a pair of pyjamas.

ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS TRASH FREE TUESDAYS—Our first “Trash Free Tuesday” was a big success with all the teachers extremely proud of the efforts of our students. The overall class with the most trash free lunchboxes were K-2B winning 10 extra minutes of play and Isaac R. (2/3) winning the individual prize. Trash Free Tuesday will be continuing each Tuesday. 3/4H have created a little video about our Trash Free Tuesday initiative which you can view using this link: https://youtu.be/YHomnChdzBY OTHER WASTE INITIATIVES—In Week 7 we contacted Glendale Bunnings to request some possible support with our recent Waste Management and Sustainability Practices and we are so pleased that Bunnings were able to donate a range of resources over the value of $200 to help with our endeavours. We are very thankful for the very kind donation to help us on our waste management journey. Over the next few weeks the resources will be distributed around the classrooms to help them identify and sort all the waste we produce at school and provide more sustainable waste management practices. Each classroom will be allocated a fruit/compost bin, paper/cardboard recycle bin, a RedCycle bin and a landfill bin. Amy Ferguson has agreed to help support and educate students to dispose of our fruit scraps into our compost bins near the garden. So far 3/4H students are very excited and up for the challenge of being Eco –Warriors! You will also be hearing more about the RedCycle initiative at AVPS shortly. To familiarise yourself with what RedCycle involves, you can view their website: https://www.redcycle.net.au/
