FAQ Covid 19 The flow of travellers between France and foreign countries is open according to modalities which vary depending to the health situation of foreign countries and the vaccination of travellers. The below classification of countries has been defined based on health indicators. The lists of countries are likely to be adapted according to the evolutions of the epidemic situation. Green Country St Barths welcomes all travellers coming from a green country presenting a negative result of their PCR test, taken within 72 hours. Alternatively, antigen test, taken within 48 hours is also accepted. This even for vaccinated travellers. In order to help guarantee a safe environment for everyone on the island, non- vaccinated traveller shall minimize contact with people outside of their travel party, for 7 days and perform a test on day 7th. Green countries: European area, Australia, South Korea, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, Singapore, United States of America, Canada. Orange Country St Barths welcomes all travellers coming from an orange country providing proof of full vaccination and a negative result of either a PCR test, taken within 72 hours or an antigen test, taken within 48 hours. For travellers not able to present a vaccination card, a compelling reason* will be asked and to present negative result of a PCR test, taken within 72 hours or an antigen test, taken within 48 hours. They shall also minimize contact with people outside of their travel party, for 7 days and perform a test on day 7th. Orange countries: UK, Mexico … and all countries, except “green” and “red” countries. Red Country Travellers coming from a red country will be asked to present a compelling reason* and negative result of a PCR test, taken within 48 hours. This even for vaccinated travellers. In order to help guarantee a safe environment for everyone on the island, non- vaccinated traveller shall self-isolate for 10 days and perform a test on day 10th. Red countries: South Africa, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Uruguay, Paraguay, Afghanistan, Maldives.
What is a compelling reason? Kindly be in touch with our team for more information on compelling reasons and requirements. What are the test requirements? A COVID-19 PCR test taken at an accredited laboratory host country. What are the vaccine requirements? Vaccines accepted by France are those recognized by the European Drug Agency (EMA): Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. What if you were not tested or your results were late? Without proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, you will not be allowed to board your flight or enter the territory of St Barths. What if your PCR test results are older than 3 days? It is important that the test is administered within 72 hours (3 days) of your arrival at the port or airport of St Barths. Tests exceeding these strict timeframes will not be accepted by the authorities and you will be unable to enter the island. What other measure shall I take? In order to help guarantee a safe environment for everyone on the island, it is the responsibility of each non vaccinated traveller to minimize contact with people outside of their travel party, for 7 days when coming from a green or orange country to and for 10 days when coming from a red country and do a test after. How to be tested in St Barth? PCR TESTS PCR tests are conducted without appointments only, the cost is €135 per person or free of charge for French citizens in possession of a social security number (carte vitale). Results are available within 48 to 72h by email and performed at this location: - St Barths testing center located in St Jean (behind the cemetery) Open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. arrive before 10.45 a.m. for PCR tests. On Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. arrive before 9.45 a.m. After this time, samples will no longer be accepted. The center is closed on Sundays and bank holidays. In order to register, you must have your passport. There will be a fee for all persons who do not have a Carte Vitale when realizing the PCR test. FOR ANTIGEN (RAPID TEST) - St Barths testing center located in St Jean (behind the cemetery) Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This center performs rapid antigenic tests (results in less than 1 hour). All you need to do is present a piece of identification (ID or passport). Please note that foreign tourists are no longer tested for antigens at this center. They can go to the below pharmacies for their antigen: - Gustavia pharmacy from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 9 am (without appointment). The test is free for French people, 80 € for foreigners and must be done within 48 hours before departure. Results are available within 30 minutes. - Pharmacy of St Jean from Monday to Saturday. You just have to make an appointment on +560 (0) 5 90 27 66 61. The test is free for French people, 80 € for foreigners and must be done within 48 hours before departure. The cost of the Antigen rapid test is €100 per person, carried out by qualified medical personnel. PCR test cannot be arranged in-house.
Do children need a test? Children under the age of 11 do not require proof of COVID-19 testing to enter St Barths. Some of our neighboring islands like St Martin requires testing for children aged 10+. Children between 11 and 18 shall provide a negative COVID-19 test but are not required to be vaccinated. Are all activities such as shops, restaurants, and water sports available? Yes, all activities on the island are available in compliance with social distancing measures. Restaurants are open and limiting tables to 6 guests per table. Tables may be placed next to or close to one another for larger group bookings. Masks are required when not seated at the table. When making a reservation our concierge team will be required by the restaurant to provide the names and contact details of every guest. We thank you for your understanding. Restaurants are required to close at midnight by the latest. Do you always need to wear a mask in St Barth? The good news is that you do not have to wear a mask on the beach! You are required to wear a mask at the airport and in all shops and restaurants. More about Covid testing, insurance recommendations and our cancellation policy What insurance will I need? We strongly recommend that the Client puts in place travel insurance aimed to cover notably flight delays, flight cancellations, mandatory quarantine, medical evacuation, or impossibility to travel due to a positive COVID-19 test result. What if you have already been tested positive for the COVID-19 and have antibodies, do you still need to get tested? An antibody test is not a substitute for a negative COVID-19 test. At this time researchers cannot yet prove if the presence of antibodies means that you are immune to COVID-19. So, without a negative COVID-19 test you will not be able to visit. What if you develop COVID symptoms during your stay? You are requested to inform us immediately if you develop symptoms like a persistent cough, fever, or loss of taste and smell. We will then contact the appropriate medical professionals who are equipped to deal with the situation. You will be obliged to follow their instructions.
What happens if you or someone in your group receives a positive test result during your stay on the island? Your party and you will be instructed by the health authorities to isolate either in your rented accommodation, or you will be required to move into another place should your current accommodation be reserved for those dates. You will be responsible for any additional costs arising from an extension of your stay or change of accommodation. During your compulsory confinement of a minimum of 7 days, you will be required to follow the guidelines of the French Health Authorities (ARS) until you have negative test results and no visible symptoms. You will be informed by the medical authorities when you are cleared to leave isolation. We highly recommend that you check your personal insurance for medical repatriation details at the time of booking. Is there a hospital in St Barth available if needed? Yes, there is a small hospital on the island but in extreme cases you could be evacuated to St Martin or Guadeloupe where more extensive medical facilities exist. Please check your individual medical insurance for evacuation arrangements to your country of origin. What if you have to cancel your reservation at the last-minute because of COVID-19 related issues? - For stays booked with Eden Rock Villa Rental: If the Client is unable to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the closure of borders, airports and lockdown in St Barthélemy or country of origin, the amount paid will be fully refunded or applied to alternative booking dates in the same villa, within 12 months from the initial arrival date - For stays booked at Eden Rock – St Barths: If the Client is unable to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the closure of borders, airports, and lockdown in St Barthélemy or their country of origin, accommodation credits will be accepted and applied within 12 months from the initial arrival date In all other cases, for example if the Client receives positive test results prior to traveling to St Barths, the regular cancellation rules shall continue in full force and effect. The complete cancellation policy is also detailed in your reservation confirmation or rental contract. Legal documents will be requested at the time of cancellation to approve the credit. New requests will be subject to availability. When returning to your country of residence, will it be required to quarantine or present a test? It will depend on the specific entry requirements of the country you are traveling to. The COVID- 19 situation remains volatile and continues to vary according to state and country. Safety requirements on other islands SXM - Juliana airport, St Marteen - All passengers, whether arriving by air, boat or in transit, are required to show an approved EHAS form this health authorization application shall be done here. Passengers transiting via SXM are also required to show a negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours except for people coming from a low-risk country. A travel ban is in place for persons who have been the 14 days before departing to Sint Maarten in a banned country. All info here. Puerto Rico -Travelers entering Puerto Rico must fill out a Travel Declaration Form through the Puerto Rico Health Department’s online portal, all info available here. Antigua - All passengers arriving by air, including those in transit, must be in possession of a negative COVID-19 PCR result, taken within seven (7) days of their flight in order to enter the country. Children under 12 years of age are not required to present a test. Special restrictions apply for boat arrival. All info available here . What if I am traveling with private aviation? The entry requirements remain the same for all visitors. Please be reminded that you should always specify your final destination when arranging private flights. Kindly check with the local FBO for further details. Do I need any additional documents? Kindly check with your airline with regards to their individual requirements.
