SPEED NATION SUNSHINE VILLAGE
Banff Sunshine Village is the first Snowboard Cross stop of the Speed Nation SBX Tour.

Speed Nation SBX Sunshine Village brings together the best SBX athletes in North America
to compete in a Snowboard Cross event in two days.

THE RESORT

At Banff Sunshine Village you'll feel a world away, without the hassle of complicated
directions. Banff Sunshine Village is conveniently located just 135 km (80 miles) west of the
Calgary International Airport and only 8 km (5 miles) west of Banff on the Trans-Canada
Highway (#1). Banff Sunshine Village, famous for Canada’s Best Snow and three mountains
which offer skiers and snowboarders more than 3,500 acres to play on features runs ranging
from easy greens to the hardest double blacks.
 A team of expert builders will complete the building of the Sunshine Village NorAm track with
oversight provided by Canada Snowboard and Alberta Snowboard.

Please note that registration fees do not include Lift Tickets.

Registration Deadline
Online registration will close at 12:00PM January 8th, 2022. There will be no in person
registration.

International Athletes Notice
In order to confirm your registration, the Event Organizers need to receive a written confirmation
from your National Snowboard Association confirming that you are in good standing, prior to
your arrival at the event.         The confirmation letter can be submitted by email to:
registration@albertasnowboarding.com

Note: A valid FIS License is required to register.

Eligibility
Competitors must meet the following age limit in order to compete:

SBX - 15 years+ by December 31, 2021
Competitors must also hold a valid FIS License. Canadian athletes can purchase FIS license,
SAIP insurance and Provincial or Territorial Snowboard Association Membership before
registering through your Provincial or Territorial Association.

Lift Ticket
Athlete Lift Tickets: $79 (incl. tax) per day
Coaches Lift Tickets: Only coaches that are registered will be provided with complimentary
lift ticket to coach (ratio 5:1)

CANADIAN COACHES REGISTRATION

All Canadian coaches at events must register and meet the Canadian Minimum Coach
Certification Standards.
To ensure you fully understand the certification requirements, review the Coach Minimum
Standards Policy

Coaches Online Registration will close at 12:00PM January 8th, 2022. There will be no in
person registration.

COVID 19

Canada Snowboard and Provincial and Territorial Snowboard Associations are committed to
providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all our stakeholders and
safeguarding the broader communities in which they live and play.

All Canada Snowboard Sanctioned Air & Speed Nation Events will follow the Canada
Snowboard Vaccination Policy.

REFUND POLICY

Event Registration Fee refunds require the approval of the Alberta Snowboard Executive
Director and follow the FIS NorAM Cup Refund Rules (Section B, NAC 7).
Request for refund must be submitted by email to: registration@albertasnowboarding.com

Refunds for cash or cheque transactions must be refunded by cheque.
Credit card refunds must be processed via card transaction credit.

Lift Tickets are not refundable.

SANCTION

Alberta Snowboard, Canada Snowboard and the International Ski Federation sanction Speed
Nation Banff Sunshine Village as a FIS North American Cup.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Certified helmets are mandatory for all training and competitions. Competitions are run in
accordance with the FIS and NorAm rules. Detailed rules are available HERE

ACCOMMODATION

     Below is a breakdown for the package that is being provided by Sunshine Village.

     This package includes staying at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge, lift tickets, and
     breakfast, lunch and dinner.
     Please note that these prices are for participants staying at Sunshine Mountain Lodge
     only:
         1. Package price with lift tickets (including tax): CAD$323 per person, per night
            (some will be in a shared room but each person will have their own bed).
         2. Package price without lift tickets (including tax): CAD$244 per person, per night
            (some will be in a shared room but each person will have their own bed).
         3. Lift tickets (including tax): $79 / day / person.
     Room block reservation is open until December 10th 2021, so please have your team
     information, rooming list and payment ready by this deadline. Room availability at
     Sunshine Mountain Lodge will be on a first-come, first serve basis.

Youth Performance Program
                                          Sunshine SBX training initiative

What:
A training opportunity for Clubs across the Country. This camp will be focused on providing a NorAm level training
track within Canada to provide the space for developing and refining abilities for athletes of multiple LTD stages, and
any discipline, to work together to explore and develop new skills and have fun on this type of venue, increasing the
community of SBX snowboarders. This is for everyone including coaches to gain more insight into this discipline of
the sport, and learn new coaching techniques. We will be splitting the training slots to accommodate the multiple
skill sets/stages of the athletes to best support their training needs.

When:
Jan 14th-17th, 2022

Training Blocks:
9:30-1:30: NorAm/ Provincial Team training. This is for teams competing at the NorAm level.
         Registration here.
1:30-4:00: Youth Performance Program. This is for open ages, any discipline and is for LTD Stage 2+ clubs who are
looking to gain insight and experience in SBX.
         Registration here. The deadline is January 9th 5:00pm Pacific time.

As this is a team training opportunity, athletes must attend with coaches. If your team is not interested in
participating please contact Mike.Stastook@CanadaSnowboard.ca. Coaches must register as we will be
communicating with the coaches regarding the activation.

Goal of the camp:
              ● Give more opportunities to more snowboarders to ride a snowboard cross course
              ● Providing Provinces more venue-specific opportunities for CWG 2023 selections
              ● Identify, track and mentor potential future high performance SBX-athletes at early development
                  stages
              ● Engage more snowboarders into the Speed disciplines
              ● Provide more resources to coaches, and athletes

NorAm Camp Extension January 18-21, 2022:

for the NorAm level only.

We are still waiting for confirmation of prices, however we will send the list of registrants to guest services so you
can purchase your tickets at the ticket office. Once we get confirmation I will email the coaches who have
registered.
