U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett & Parks Reserve Forces Training Area June 11, 2021 SUMMER TRAINING SURGE BEGINS Highlights for FHL: Army Reserve CSTX and Army National Guard XCTC Employee Awards Ceremony Teens graduation celebration CYS Olympic Day Wine tasting event Highlights for PRFTA: Global Medic exercise New AAFES Bldg. Meeting Camp Parks Sign Milestone FHL and Parks Reserve Forces Training Area provides base operations support enabling total force readiness while providing for the well-being and security of Soldiers, Family members and Civilians on post. It is the seventh largest Army installation and the largest Army Reserve installation in the country. Along with this bi-weekly storyboard, FHL & CPRFTA produces a variety of command information products which are available on the Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS). WORKFORCE RECOGNITION 2nd Quarter Employee Awards Ceremony Fort Hunter Liggett conducted its 2nd Quarter Employee Awards Ceremony, announcing the DPW staff Juanito Bautista as the Employee of the Quarter, June 10, 2021. Bautista received a Civilian Service Achievement Medal and a $250 On the Spot Award for his outstanding service. Bautista retired as a master sergeant with the 91st Training Division, and joined the installation staff a year ago. Twenty five employees were recognized with Civilian Service Commendation Medals, Civilian Service Achievement Medal, or a Certificate of Achievement. SOLDIER & FAMILY PROGRAMS Fort Hunter Liggett CYS Olympic Day The Mutli-Age Facility hosted the CYS Summer Kick-Off Olympic Day, June 4, 2021. This annual event serves to kick-off the summer season at CYS. Many Olympic themed activities are set up for the children to explore and try out. The children, staff, and visitors paraded around the facility with torches held high, in a mock opening ceremony. Deputy Garrison Commander Mr. Myhres and DFMWR Director Mr. Tertulien even joined in on the fun. To finish out the event each participant was awarded a gold medal. (Photos by DFMWR CYS Staff)
SOLDIER & FAMILY PROGRAMS Fort Hunter Liggett Teen Graduation Celebration The Fort Hunter Liggett Teen Center hosted a Graduation Celebration for the youth that graduated from 8th grade and High School, June 8, 2021. Our youth have overcome numerous challenges and obstacles this year during a global pandemic. From distance learning to returning to in-person instruction, the youth have shown how resilient they are and have been very successful. Congratulations to all the graduates! COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS Hacienda Wine Tasting Event The DFMWR Hacienda hosted a Wine Tasting which featured six local wineries for guests to sample, as well as large charcuterie board of fine cheeses and specialty meats. Local musician and Dining Facility staff, Ron Raade, entertained guests throughout the event. (Photos by DFMWR)
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS Camp Parks Sign Move The Secretary of the Army accepted the City of Dublin’s kind offer to renovate and relocate the historic Camp Parks entrance sign from it’s current location at the southwest corner of the installation, to the access control point for Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, June 7, 2021. The sign, created by Bruce Goff, a Navy Sea Bee stationed here during World War II is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The gift will restore the sign’s function as an entrance sign, that can be appreciated by the public, and allow the Army to meet the responsibility for historic properties. (Courtesy photos)
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS Community Initiatives Resident Meeting The Fort Hunter Liggett Community Initiatives Group held a community meeting complete with a BBQ at Bradley Park, June 5, 2021. The Initiatives Group met with residents to discuss new events and follow up with prior events that the community would enjoy having. The group discussed planning for events such as 80’s karaoke night, camping in the park, and conversations of a dog park being build adjacent to Bradley Park on the Rancho Milpitas side of housing. The Group has noticed an increase in attendance of community events and looks forward to continue to engage residents, and create a sense of unity and comradery. GARRISON REDINESS: INFRASTRUCTURE AAFES Design Team Site Visit Personnel from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) visited with Parks Reserve Forces Training Area leadership, DPW, DES and others to continue discussions of a proposed relocation and design of a more up-to-date AAFES facility on PRFTA. The proposed facility would consolidate existing retail functions and barber shop on PRFTA into one centralized location on the installation and continue to provide exchange services to tenants, transient students, retirees and the PRFTA community. SUPPORT TO TRAINING Summer Training Surge The summer training surge is upon Fort Hunter Liggett with thousands of troops visiting for the Army Reserve Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX), led by the 91st Training Division; and the Army National Guard Exportable Combat Training Center Exercise (XCTC). All facilities are experiencing increased traffic as they get situated and prepare for the start of their training. Extra caution is advised to the FHL community for increased foot and road activities. COVID-19 is still active so adhere to DoD and garrison policies to protect yourself and those around you. Face masks are required at all times for those who are not vaccinated. Those that are vaccinated, may not wear at DoD facilities. EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO WEAR FACE MASKS AT PX, COMMISSARY, MEDICAL AID STATION, AND THE VISITOR CENTER. (Photos by Akuaha Moreno, FHL PAO, and 311th Sustainment Command)

SUPPORT TO TRAINING Religious Affairs Specialists Training The 91st Training Division’s Chaplain operations section held a one-day training facilitated by Chaplains Darryl Darden and Brian Baxter at the Fort Hunter Liggett Chapel, June 7, 2021. The training instruction was based on the Battle Focus Training materials. More than 26 Chaplains and Religious Affairs Specialists attended the training. These Army Reserve Soldiers are at FHL for the Combat Support Training Exercise. One chaplain and his unit came from Korea for training. The 91TD Commanding General Maj. Gen.
