WHO NEEDS TO RELOCATE AND WHEN? • Only residents in Phase 1 buildings need to relocate by the end of May. • What are my relocation options? 1. Onsite to Phase 2 unit 2. Other Public housing 3. Voucher to private housing (if qualified)
WHAT ENSURES RESIDENTS THE RIGHT TO RETURN? DCHA passed Resolution 16-06 which affirms that current and former Park Morton residents who lived at the property on or after November 2014 and are lease compliant, have the right to return. Residents are eligible to return as long as they are lease compliant and/or have not been evicted from DCHA housing There will not be minimum work or service requirements more stringent than DCHA’s policy There will not be criminal background requirements more stringent than DCHA’s policy There will not be credit or drug screening requirements more stringent than DCHA’s policy

WHAT IS BRUCE MONROE? • Off-site phase of Park Morton Redevelopment • 273 new units 76-unit senior building 189-unit multifamily building 8 townhouse units • 90 replacement units for Park Morton residents
WHAT IS THE STATUS OF BRUCE MONROE? • The Bruce Monroe development plan received an approved Zoning Order for the proposed development in April 2017. • In May 2017, the City’s Zoning Order was challenged in court. • In June 2020, the DC Court of Appeals, reversed the decision of the Zoning Commission and sent it back to the Zoning Commission to reconsider and clarify specific items in the zoning order. • We are awaiting the Zoning Commission’s response and amend order to address the Court’s concerns.
