PO Box 76 • Westminster, MA 01473 October 2020 Dear Sponsors, The Westminster Village Foundation is excited to announce Westminster’s first ever public art project; the “Westminster Dog Show 2021-2022”! Based on successful projects across the country, artists will be chosen to uniquely design and paint life size statues of dogs to be displayed up and down Main Street and in front of area businesses. The Dog Show will attract thousands of visitors to the community and local businesses. The dogs are sponsored by businesses and patrons and will be on display Summer/Fall 2021 and 2022. They can either be rented for the 2 year run or bought outright. See sponsor info for details and pricing or speak with a committee member. The rentals will be auctioned off as a fundraiser at the conclusion of the dog show during a Grand celebration in the Fall of 2022. All the funds raised become part of the many projects we’ve done to create beautification and improvement projects for Westminster. We look forward to having you become part of Westminster’s public art project. We are working on a program to supply high school artists with tabletop statues to design and paint. It is our hope to display them in the community, and then becomes part of the silent auction at the Westminster Cracker Festival in 2021 and 2022 to raise money for school art programs. We also have been working on a mini-documentary film of the history of Westminster including many photos and videos from the Westminster Cracker Festival. This 30 minute documentary titled “A Formidable History and a Community Celebration” will premier on Friday, October 16th at 7pm under the tent next to Blueprint. This exclusive invitation is extended to our many Festival sponsors over the last 5 years to thank you for your continued support. Complimentary food and a cham- pagne reception will be followed by the premier of the film which is being dedicated to Marcus Moran who was instrumental in the start of the Town’s Festival. Please reserve a spot by emailing info@crackerfestival.com with names of attendees. Space is limited so please respond asap. This wonderful show will feature many festival goers and unique features of Westminster, past and present, and include aerial photography by the acclaimed videographer Bill Farrell. Please spread the word and join us on this special day. We look forward to seeing you all and becoming part of what makes Westminster a special place to live. Thank you. Lisa Grenier Joseph Serio Director Chairman Mission Statement Westminster Cracker Festival’s goal is to attract visitors to discover and experience our beautiful town. The vitality of a community is built on the foundation of a vibrant downtown where residents come together to interact and trade locally. To further that belief, money raised will be used for the benefit of the community. crackerfestival.com Westminster Cracker Festival
PO Box 76 • Westminster, MA 01473 WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW 2021-2022 Westminster Dog Show 2021-22 is a public art project sponsored by local businesses, residents and underwritten by the Westminster Village Foundation (a non-profit entity under the umbrella of Johnny Appleseed Trail Association). Our Foundation created and runs the Westminster Cracker Festival each year but due to the current restrictions cannot be held. The next festival is October 16th 2021. Financial contributions to any of our projects are tax deductible and net proceeds benefit the Town of Westminster and the Ashburnham/Westminster School District. These fiberglass dog forms are decorated with paint, mosaic and other mixed media by area artists. They will be displayed in 2021 and 2022, throughout Westminster and area businesses creating a walkable, bikeable tour. A “dog map” will be provided which will attract thousands of visitors to our community. The dogs will be “unleashed” during a Dog Parade in June of 2021 and displayed for 2 summer/fall seasons, concluding with a grand event and live auction in the Fall of 2022. There are various levels of sponsorship and you can choose whether you want to purchase the dog outright to keep or become part of the auction. Either way, each dog will have a plaque including your name and the artist’s name. Why Sponsor? • Widespread publicity for many months throughout Massachusetts attracting thousands of visitors. You can expect to see increased business during this period. • All dogs will be displayed with a plaque with sponsor and artist’s names. • You will be part of supporting local artists and art programs in our community and school. • The auction net proceeds will support the Westminster Village Foundation (Cracker Festival, summer concerts, holiday lights, downtown gardens, scholarships) and many other projects in future years. How does it work? The cost of each dog is underwritten by a business, local patron or civic organization. There are options to split the cost with someone else. Sponsor levels $1000 and up may secure a dog with 50% down, with no dogs released without balance paid. A call to artists will take place and chosen by a Selection Committee based on their portfolio and submitted design. Sponsors will then choose their artists with priority given to sponsor levels and earlier application and payment. Sponsors may use their own artist, but the design would need to be approved by design committee. Rent vs Buy? Icon programs are fundraisers for community and most have a “rent only” option with an auction at the end of the program. We chose to offer the “own” option that for a higher price becomes yours without going to auction. If you choose to buy, you have options to incorporate logos and other unique features that are not possible with a rental. All designs have to be submitted and approved by the design committee. crackerfestival.com Westminster Cracker Festival
