2021 ★★★★★ The Northern Aldborough Festival is a minor miracle – world class musicians performing in intimate venues HARROGATE ADVERTISER
2021 WELCOME “We have been resting so that we are fresh for tomorrow.” No, not Shakespeare, but Australian former cricket captain Ricky Ponting. The sentiment of a fresh re-awakening following a ‘rest’ seems apt. The prospect of a return to live music has been eagerly embraced by the Northern Aldborough Festival, and we have pulled out all the stops with a stellar line-up. Gracing the programme are ‘Britain’s most loved soprano’ Lesley Garrett, the former Communard turned cleric Reverend Richard Coles and the Russian virtuoso violinist Viktoria Mullova, who appears with her son, rising jazz star Misha Mullov-Abbado. Alongside these household names are younger musicians receiving a platform early in their careers, something the Festival has endeavoured to provide since its inception in 1994. From the opening night performance by oboist Nicholas Daniel’s Haffner Ensemble to the Last Night’s 80s themed revelry the 2021 Northern Aldborough Festival promises an exhilarating ambience, all the sweeter for the novelty of the live, shared musical experience. While the quality of the musical offering will be ensured, so will the welfare and comfort of our audience, and therefore numbers will be limited and other measures taken to allow for safe, social distancing. We urge you to book early to guarantee your place! Robert Ogden Artistic Director FESTIVAL NEWS www.aldboroughfestival.com 3
