EORNA Accreditation Council for Education History ACE : Accreditation Council for Education first step
EORNA ACE Aims Harmonization and improvement of the quality of continuing education on nursing, in the surgical nursing care field around Europe. • By improving quality of and accessibility to continuing nursing education and professional development for the nursing and healthcare professionals in Europe. • By facilitation of credits transfer obtained by individual professionals in educational activities that meet common quality requirements: • between European countries, • between different professionals, • in case of migration of a nursing and healthcare professional within Europe, • between the European credit system and comparable systems outside Europe.
EORNA ACE Aims • Internal Rules • Public guidelines • Internal management • Web advertising • Submission forms • Diploma’s model
EORNA ACE Results Countries requiring official accreditation • Cyprus (30 points per 3 years) • Croatia (15 points per year) • Belgium (60 points per 4 years)
EORNA ACE Results Official recognition is important : • in terms of marketing, • to attract additional delegates, • to diversify its audience • to share globally the knowledge and research of our continent.
EORNA ACE Results
EORNA ACE Results • There should be no accreditation of commercially biased activities. • Recognition of long distance learning is developing on the basis of individual modules separately assessed. So providers are not accredited for series of activities stretching over years. UK Theatre Access Refresher Course
EORNA ACE Perspectives • High level of constant attention and availability by volunteers working for non profits association • Applicants for accreditation requires prompt responses to their request. • EORNA ACE is formally recognized by a single federal authority, in Belgium and recently. • The EORNA ACE needs : • To focus one of its objectives towards broader recognition of its mission to other official authorities. • Must be articulated with a work of development of the recognition of perioperative nursing specificity with the official authorities by EORNA. • Use a friendly website to facilitate access and improve visibility of accreditation.
EORNA ACE Perspectives • Automatically validation of accreditation points for OR nurses will make their educational path much easier • EORNA ACE follows UEMS rules in some ways. A larger partnership, a more intense collaboration would be more beneficial • for perioperative nurses in Europe, • for the benefit of ongoing training • for the benefit of patients. In summary, we expect to provide a more professional tool for applicants and OR nurses in the future.
