Dear international students Once a year, students at Chemnitz University elect their student representati- ves. This booklet will give you all the necessary details about the candidates, election procedure and the students’ representative council. You probably have already met us during the orientation week, at some other event organised by us or simply came by our office to ask questions regarding your studies. However, our main task as the students’ representative council of computer science students is to communicate with professors and other university staff on your behalf. The students’ representative council consists of 15 members which are elected every year. This year, there are 11 candidates nominated for the next term, which will start in April 2021 and holds for the following 12 month. The election for that legislative term will take place 07.-09.th December. You should have received a polling notice (“Wahlbenachrichtigung”) via e-mail. The polling stations are located in the following rooms: • 07.12.20 (Mo)- room 1/367, Straße der Nationen 62 9.00am - 6.00pm • 07.12.20 (Mo)- room 4/104, W.Raabe-Straße 43 10.30am - 3.30pm • 08.12.20 (Tu)- room 2/N101, Reichenhainer Str. 90 9.00am - 6.00pm • 09.12.20 (We)- room 2/N101, Reichenhainer Str. 90 9.00am - 6.00pm Please bring your student ID card. You have three votes which can be accu- mulated on one candidate or distributed among multiple candidates. If you have any questions about the candidates, don’t hesitate to ask them. If you have any questions concerning the computer science students’ repre- sentatives council, ask your representatives or send them an email: fsrif@tu- chemnitz.de. If you have any questions concerning the electoral procedure, ask the electoral committee by sending an email to: stura-wahlen@tu-chemnitz.de. 4
What is the purpose of the students’ representatives council? The main task of the student representatives is to support the computer science students’ interests at the department and at the whole university. If you have ideas on how to improve your course of study or you have had problems with your examinations you can ask your student representatives for help. Additionally, they organise cultural events, parties and are responsible for po- litical education and assisting students with their studies. The office of the computer science students’ representatives (“Fachschaftsrat Informatik”) can be found at room 1/344. (CC) 2.5 by-nc, http://xkcd.com/1729/ 5

The candidates Name: Richard Schöbel E-Mail: richard.schoebel@s2017.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Bachelor Angewandte Informatik Fachsemester: 6. FS Hi, I’m Richard. After meanwhile 2 years in the FSR I guess you know me already. After some time in the FSR, I joined the election committee and since the beginning of this year I am involved in the StuRa and in various study commis- sions. Now the basic question: Why should you choose me? Quite simple. Since I have been in the FSR, I have been committed to it with my heart and soul. I’ve done my best to keep the FSR operating, whether it be with phone redi- rects from the FSR phone and the ability to make inquiries, organize meetings, and be the main organizer of the game night. The O-week was also an important point for me, which is why I volunteered to be the main organizer, ho- ping that it would go well. Other important things for me, were in my previous work, the commitment for the study course Bachelor of Com- puter and Communication Sciences, which brought many problems with itself, which we want to improve now gra- dually in the study commission. But all in all, I am of course approachable for all students and ready to solve their pro- blems and I hope that I have been able to show that you can rely on me to take care of them. So choose me if you want someone in the FSR you can rely on and I thank you in advance for your trust. 7
Name: Wieland Breitfeld E-Mail: wieland.breitfeld@s2016.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Bachelor Informatik- und Kommunikationswissenschaf- ten Fachsemester: 5. FS Heyho, I am Wieland and I have been in the student coun- cil for 3 years. Unfortunately, you can see even less of the SC work than usual at the moment. Often there are things happening in the background at the university, which you can’t see from the outside, but which have a great in- fluence on the students. I passionately represent student interests so that you will not be forgotten when making important decisions. As a student of computer science and communication studies I am particularly committed to the interests of our course of studies. I would be happy if you would trust me again to represent you for another year in the SC. Name: Tina Lenk E-Mail: tina.lenk@s2016.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Bachelor Angewandte Informatik Fachsemester: . FS (CC) 2.5 by-nc, https://xkcd.com/340/ 8
Name: Jan Lötters E-Mail: jan.loetters@s2020.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Master Informatik für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaft- ler Fachsemester: 1. FS Hello, I have been studying the IGS Master’s since the be- ginning of this semester and I would like to stand up for the interests of students in the FSR. This would include organising events such as those for the orientation week as well as protecting the rights of students and enforcing them correctly in the event of a conflict. The irreconcilabi- lity of class interests has been once again revealed during the pandemic. Many students have to live with the out- comes of restrictions - such as loss of (part-time) employ- ment, uncertainty around BAföG or exams. The aim of the FSR must be two-fold, to address the student’s concerns towards the institute and administration as well as public- ly and to provide advice to individual students. Vote for ’Gremientiere’ on the ballot - it’s very good. Name: Markus Henkelmann E-Mail: markus.henkelmann@s2017.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Bachelor Informatik Fachsemester: 6. FS In my first term, I have now noticed that there are still some areas in the FSR:IF that are looking for committed people. For this reason in particular, I unfortunately had to put my old goals on hold. All the more reason for me to continue to work on making various things work better in a second term: mailing lists, website, prompt processing of enquiries, and much more. So you will find me working somewhere in the background from time to time when I’m re-elected. Nevertheless I’ll continue to try to answer your questions regarding your studies. 9
Name: Clemens Albrecht E-Mail: clemens.albrecht@s2017.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Bachelor Angewandte Informatik Fachsemester: 7. FS Dear students, the time for the annual Student Represen- tative Council election at the faculty of computer science has come. The year 2020 has been an especially challen- ging for each and every student and especially for our first semester students. Online lectures and digital exams are a new challenge for students and university staff. Conse- quently, we need a strong student representation in these trying times. This is especially true for first semester stu- dents who haven’t had a chance to get used to the daily life of a student yet. For these reasons, I have decided to run for a seat in the Student Representative Council at the faculty of computer science this year. I have been a mem- ber of the Chemnitzer StudentenNetz for over a year now and thus have been able to collect valuble experience in supporting students in their daily lives. Therefore, I would like to support every student at the faculty of computer science starting next year. Name: Toni Beier E-Mail: toni.beier@s2016.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Master Informatik Fachsemester: . FS Name: Oliver Hahn E-Mail: Oliver.Hahn@s2016.tu-chemnitz.de Studiengang: Master Angewandte Informatik Fachsemester: 1. FS After nearly four years as a member of FSR:IF I want to engage for it for yet another year. With kindness and am- bition I like to help you with your problems regarding your study or private life and fight for a most possible convinient study. 10
