About Edify Edify is a non-profit organization with a mission to improve and to expand sustainable, Christ-centred education globally. Edify partners with entrepreneurs who offer quality Christ-centered education to children in underserved communities, and provides three key resources to help them improve and expand their schools.
About ITAU ICT Teachers Association of Uganda (ITAU) has since 2017 brought together teachers of Computer Studies and ICT across all levels of education in Uganda. ICT Teachers Association of Uganda (ITAU) exists to promote ICT literacy and Integration in Education and other spheres of daily life. ITAU’s Motto is ‘Together Against Computer Illiteracy’. Education Technology What is Education Technology? • Use of physical hardware, software, and content to facilitate learning and improve performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate educational processes and resources. • Adding value to the education system through technology
Edify Ed Tech Program Outcomes Outcome Sample Strategies School has a functional Edify EdTech Loans for ICT lab establishment, Computer care & maintenance computer lab strategy e.g ICT Clubs, provision of support to lab attendants e,g sharing of software and technical trainings School teachers develop Content creation trainings, sustainability through continuous practice e.g local e-content for teaching teachers type own schemes, exams, class registers, lesson notes/slides every and learning term School is e-learning and e- Establishment of School websites, Kolibri digital library, eLearning Training communication ready (Teachers know how to use Google Classroom, Zoom, YouTube, etc) School uses technology in Foundational trainings for school leaders, School ICT Policy in place, has computer administration based system for managing admissions, reports, accounts, etc. School integrates ICT in ICT Integration Trainings, reference to ICT Integration framework in New Uganda classroom teaching and Lower Secondary Curriculum, Class use of projectors, tablets, smartphones, learning internet, SmilePi/Internet-In-a-Box, offline digital libraries and other information sources. There shall be periodic school visits and follow-ups to assess progress regarding above outcomes

Edify eClasses Program 2021: During the school lockdown, Edify in partnership with Christian School Owners Association (CSOA) conducted online lessons for over 7000 learners from Nursery to A level. All lessons delivered are available on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/cs oauganda

Offline Digital Libraries Kolibri: Build your own custom School Digital Library •Kolibri Software can be installed offline as a custom offline digital Library with a schools’ computer lab – See instances at e-learning.education.go.ug and elearning.nacsu.org. Practical Activities • Using Britannica or Encarta to 1. Navigate the interface and switch between libraries 2. Copy map of Uganda, paste it in Microsoft Word and Save 3. Lookup a word in the dictionary 4. Search about any topic, e.g Jesus Christ, then copy and paste in Word 5. Explore the Video section under the Elementary Library
Practical Activities • Using PowerPoint to prepare a 4 slide presentation 1. First make a written plan for your lesson outline: e.g. a chosen topic and two sub topics/sub headings as on left. 2. Create only 4-5 slides (first slide being title slide and last one being Exercise/Assignment slide. 3. Use Offline Digital Libraries and / or Internet to enhance your presentation. 4. Save your presentation on a flash, transfer to projector PC and present a slideshow of your work to available audience
Practical Activities • Using your phone, visit the NCDC website 1. Go to the publications section at https://www.ncdc.go.ug/publ ications a 2. Download the Abridged Curriculum Orientation manual for Primary or Secondary 3. Share it with your colleagues through Bluetooth.
Sustainability of ICT Integration We urge teachers/schools to: 1. Come up with a School ICT Policy to guide integration and general management of ICTs in the various school processes. Establish an ICT club to support computer lab care and maintenance, promote ICT integration and Innovations among the students.
