WELCOME TO RESIDENCE
You’ve been formally accepted to St. Thomas
University, and I’d like to welcome you to your
 new home — STU Residence.

You’re about to embark on an amazing
adventure but the transition to university is a
big change. Living in residence will make that
change a lot easier: you’ll make lasting con-
nections with new friends, develop a network
of peers going through the same things, and
receive support and guidance from our excep-
 tional staff.

This guide is a resource for you (and your family)
as you prepare for the big move. We can’t wait to
meet you and welcome you to your new home!

FOR STUDENTS
Residence is more than just a place to live – it’s a place to meet new people, have new
experiences, learn and have fun! We want you to feel comfortable in your new home and know all
about the resources and supports STU has waiting for you!

RESIDENCE LIFE STAFF
There are different student leaders that live in your building that will provide resources, support and
events throughout the academic year. There is a Residence Coordinator (RC) in each building, Resi-
dence Advisors (RAs) for each wing and House Committee (HC) members that live in each building.

Residence supervisors are full-time university staff in charge of fostering a positive living environ-
ment and promoting academic and personal development for you and your fellow residents. Their
responsibilities include policy/procedure administration, crisis intervention, student staff supervi-
sion, programming facilitation and direction, and student leader mentoring. They also live in our
residence buildings so they are available for questions and concerns!

Students can visit the Residence Life Office (GMH 303) between 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
for any questions or concerns.
