Adopt A Cow – On Social While adults had the opportunity to cast their votes last week, the preschool students in the Dandy Lions class took part in their very own voting process! They plan to participate in the “Adopt a Cow Program” sponsored by Discover Dairy. They learned that there are two main breeds of dairy cows: Jerseys and Holsteins. Jersey cows are tan, and Holstein cows are black and white. After a group discussion to define the term “adopt,” the teachers asked the Dandy Lions if they thought they were going to adopt a Jersey cow or a Holstein cow. They had the opportunity to cast their votes for a cow, just like their parents had done in the recent election. The young voters were provided with a private voting booth, and no campaign signs were permitted within 100 feet of the polling location. After the students cast their ballots, they graphed the results. The numbers were counted and recounted, and it was shocking to learn that the young voters were so sharply divided along bovine lines! Half voted for a Jersey cow, while the other half voted for a Holstein cow. Which one will it be? Only time will tell the final outcome! Stay tuned!
Adopt A Cow – Testimonials Hello! We are a pre-k classroom (ages 4-5), and we are so excited about our cow, Halee! She is adorable and we can’t wait to learn more about her. We drew pictures for Halee to send to her and we hope she loves them!! Thank you so much for this opportunity to adopt a cow! This is such a fun learning experience! Thank you - Janine Edmonds
Adopt A Cow – Testimonials Hello! I’m a first year teacher and I just wanted to share the story about our dairy calf! My first graders and I had a gender reveal party for our calf that all of first grade at Foxbank Elementary came out and celebrated! My students dressed in either blue or pink and we shot off confetti cannons! Later on, my class went back inside and I put up pictures on the SMARTBoard to see if they could guess the cow’s name. They guessed correctly, it was Moon Pie, and each student was given a Moon Pie to eat afterwards! I can’t wait to keep sharing this journey with my first graders and thank you for this exciting opportunity! Foxbank Elementary is located in Moncks Corner, SC - Rachel Coffey
Looking Forward ❑ 2021-2022 – How can we streamline AAC even more? – How can we make Discover Dairy & AAC work better together? – How do we retain and continue our growth? – Who do we look to as bigger supporters to keep the growth? • Do we think about securing a “Platinum Supporter” for AAC? – Do we look for ways to translate DD & AAC to other languages? – Ultimately, how do we continue meeting the needs of the consumer?
