What is Theology?(i) We have over 600 students across our Undergraduate & Postgraduate programmes o An academic subject like any other o Examines the big questions in life: "Who am I", "Why are we here?", "What is good?", "What is evil?" "Theology is not just about faith or studying the bible. It's much more than that. You don't need to have taken • Christianity and World Religions Religion as an exam subject to • Christian Anthropology study Theology • Engaging Ethical Dilemmas • History of Christianity • Contemporary Issues in Bioethics • Religious Education in Secondary School • Philosophy of Religion • Christian Sacraments o "Today's world is pluralist, so we also need to be able to dialogue with different religious traditions and philosophies, including Judaism, Islam and Buddhism." Entrance Scholarships The entrance scholarship* is automatically awarded and is available for students who have obtained the following in their Leaving Certificate: 400 Points = €500 550 Points = €1000 *See P. 9 of our Undergraduate Prospectus for more information about our Entrance Scholarship: https://bit.ly/2IWVFhF O'Fiaich Scholarships for Northern Ireland Students o 5 Scholarships for students from Northern Ireland doing Theology & Arts. o Scholarships are valued at €1,500 and include the offer of campus accommodation. o Deadline for applications: 25 June 2021 More information: https://maynoothcollege.ie/scholarships-funding
Accommodation The offer of on-campus accommodation is guaranteed to all 1st year Theology Students Theology students are generally allocated rooms at the Village Apartments. Erasmus+ (i) Erasmus+: Spend a year abroad at one of our partner universities. Those who complete the academic year successfully, graduate with an international degree. o Studying Spanish? We have a partner university in Salamanca o Doing German? Choose from 14 universities in Germany, including Munich, Tübingen and Würtzburg. But you don't need to study a language to participate: Some partner universities offer courses through English, including our partners in Belgium, Malta, Norway, Sweden and Finland. Entry Requirements & How To Apply Leaving Certificate Entry Requirements: 2 H5 & 4 O6/H7, Irish, English & Third Language Applications are Points: Usually in the region of 300 through the (varies slightly from year to year) CAO: www.cao.ie NOTE: See P. 10 of our undergraduate prospectus for minimum LC grade requirements for entry to certain Arts subjects: https://bit.ly/SPCMPROSPECTUS2020 These requirements are the same as for Maynooth University Also see CAO Handbook, P.81, for information: http://www2.cao.ie/handbook/handbook2021/hb.pdf
Mature Applicants What our students say: The best part of studying o We welcome mature applicants (those Theology? who are 23 yrs+), and have a vibrant "The small class groups community of mature students and sense of community from day one" studying with us o Apply though the CAO – www.cao.ie o Interviews generally take place in May or June, with late interviews in July Note: For those who have been out of education for an extended period, we strongly recommend doing a "Return to Learning" course, which is an excellent preparation for study at university level. "Return to Learning" courses are available at other Higher Education Institutions, including Maynooth University
