Derwood Bible Church Elder & Deacon Candidates 2021-2022 Below are short biographies of men being considered for the office of elder or deacon. Please take the time to read and consider these men. Are they qualified to serve in such a capacity? Primarily, do their lives conform to the standard set in Scripture (1 Timothy 3 and/or Titus 1)? And secondly, are they men that you respect and that you would gladly follow? Are they men above reproach, possessing a good reputation both inside and outside the church? How do you view their marriage? What kind of father are they? Are they a good leader in their home? Are you aware of any improprieties or areas of instability in their life? Additionally, for those men being considered for elder: are they able to teach and would they make good shepherds of our body, having a genuine and godly concern for all of its members? Candidates for the Elder Leadership Team ***NEW CANDIDATE*** Vinnie Tallman Vinnie grew up in Hornell, NY, with his parents and brother, former DBC member John. Vinnie's dad was born again in 1975, and the family began regularly attending church. Vinnie was saved as a teenager; however, it was not until after college, while his dad battled terminal lung cancer, that he understood that's it's not enough to believe in God. A Christian must believe God and be conformed to Jesus's teaching. In recent years, Vinnie has pursued a deeper understanding of Reformed Theology and how God's elect are saved by grace through faith and not by man's works. He believes that we are called to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength" (Mark 12:30). Vinnie studied Political Science at Hartwick College and then received his Master's in Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, where he met his wife, Debbie. The couple moved to Maryland in 1992. They have been attending DBC since July 2001. Currently, Vinnie is President of PASS - a PAC management consultant firm in Reston, Virginia. The Tallmans have three adult daughters, Maggie, Emmie, and Addie, whom they homeschooled with the help of Chieftain Christian Academy. In addition, Vinnie has served DBC as a deacon for several years. Debbie teaches 3's Sunday School, is part of the Care & Comfort ministry, and is the director of Chieftain Institute.

His vision for DBC is that we strive together for the faith of the Gospel, as Paul mentioned to the Philippians. Striving together means that we are fully engaged in serving the Lord and being used by Him. What is it we're striving for? The faith of the Gospel! The Gospel impacts every aspect of our lives, and we are to take the Good News of Jesus Christ to those around us: our families, our neighborhoods, and our world. We are not to do this by ourselves, but as a unified body of believers. We are a church family; we need to encourage, support, challenge, and comfort one another in all that we do. Colin met his wife, Christine, while attending George Mason University, where he earned his B.A. in Russian Studies and Masters Degree in Education. Colin also earned his Doctor in Ministry degree at Liberty Theological Seminary (counseling emphasis), where he previously earned his Master of Arts in Religion Degree and Master of Divinity Degree (preaching). Colin has previously served as a school teacher in Russia, a Children's Pastor, and on the staff of Central Union Mission. The Seager's six children are Ashleigh, Katie, Michael, Alyssa, Matthew, and Kaylee - the older four are now young adults and they are delighted to have Adam as their new son-in-law. Colin always loves a good game of hoops or ping-pong, loves to grill and will always be a fan of the Burgundy and Gold!
