HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month in the confidence of receiving from the Lord of the Church all He promises when he gives His body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. The Apostle Paul wrote, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want: (Philippians 4:12). Paul learned that contentment comes only from relying on God, trusting that His strength will be sufficient for all things. Knowing that God loves us and will provide, gives us confidence to depend on Him. In contrast, a worldly focus leads us to place our hope on earthly things that ultimately provide no lasting happiness or future. LWML York Zone Fall Rally will be October 3, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hampton. Registration begins at 12:45
pm and the rally starts at 1:15 pm, with a $5.00 registration fee. Rev. David Muench, Executive Director of Grace Point is the speaker. See the poster in the church hallway for Ingathering items to the University Lutheran Chapel in Lincoln. Trunk or Treat at Emmanuel is October 31, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Sign up at the Information Center to park your vehicle, hand out candy and share the love of Jesus. Donations of candy are welcomed and can be dropped off at the church office. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD is back! Pick up a box and guidelines outside the church office and fill it with Jesus’ love and fun things to be shared with children in need. Filled boxes should be returned by November 16. Mark your calendar - Christmas Market will be held here at Emmanuel, December 4, to start your Christmas shopping. Interested vendors should contact Beth Thomsen at 402-362-7644 for more information. A suggestion box has been placed at the church information center. Please share any suggestions, ideas or concerns you might have to better meet the custodial needs of the church and school. Camp Luther Women’s Retreat “Lean on Jesus” will be November 12-13. Boy Scouts will be selling popcorn on October 3 and October 10 between services and following the 10:30 am service. Proceeds to scouting activities.
