HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month in the confidence of receiving from the
Lord of the Church all He promises when he gives His body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine for the
forgiveness of sins. If you commune with us, we ask that you be in confessional agreement with the Lutheran
Church - Missouri Synod and that the following be your belief:
· I believe that I am a sinful human being without hope of eternal life except for God’s mercy in Christ.
· I believe that Jesus is God’s Son, my personal Savior and together with the bread and wine I receive the true
Body and Blood of Christ.
· I dedicate myself anew to the Lord through regular worship, the study of His Word, faithful witness, fervent
prayer and loving service.

communion wafer.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and
invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the
Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for
us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day he rose again according to the
Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And he will come again
with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And
I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of
sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want:
(Philippians 4:12). Paul learned that contentment comes only from relying on God, trusting that His strength will be
sufficient for all things. Knowing that God loves us and will provide, gives us confidence to depend on Him. In
contrast, a worldly focus leads us to place our hope on earthly things that ultimately provide no lasting happiness or
future.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
“Such a Time as This” Prayer Vigil will be tomorrow, 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm in the sanctuary. Come and go at your
convenience, but find time to lift up prayers on behalf of all people, in the church and the world during these trying
times in which we live.
LWML York Zone Fall Rally will be October 3, St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hampton. Registration begins at 12:45pm and the rally starts at 1:15 pm, with a $5.00 registration fee. Rev. David Muench, Executive Director of Grace Point is the speaker. See the poster in the church hallway for Ingathering items to the University Lutheran Chapel in Lincoln. Trunk or Treat at Emmanuel is October 31, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Sign up at the Information Center to park your vehicle, hand out candy and share the love of Jesus. Donations of candy are welcomed and can be dropped off at the church office. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD is back! Pick up a box and guidelines outside the church office and fill it with Jesus’ love and fun things to be shared with children in need. Filled boxes should be returned by November 16. Mark your calendar - Christmas Market will be held here at Emmanuel, December 4, to start your Christmas shopping. Interested vendors should contact Beth Thomsen at 402-362-7644 for more information. A suggestion box has been placed at the church information center. Please share any suggestions, ideas or concerns you might have to better meet the custodial needs of the church and school. Camp Luther Women’s Retreat “Lean on Jesus” will be November 12-13. The cost is $75.00 and the registration deadline is October 29. If you have questions, call 402-352-5655. Register at campluther.org/womens-retreat. Boy Scouts will be selling popcorn on October 3 and October 10 between services and following the 10:30 am service. Proceeds to scouting activities. Today is the last day for Emmanuel-Faith School’s Book Fair. Visit the display in the Fellowship Hall. Thank you to everyone who uses their offering envelope to mail in their offerings. For your information, the Post Office advises that this size/type of envelope requires an additional 15 cents postage.
