THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY AUGUST 15, 2021
The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated every year on August 15th.
This feast commemorates Mary’s Assumption, body and soul, into Heaven.
It is a most important Marian feast and today we join her in her happiness.
We look forward to the day when we, too, can share it with her.
In the meantime, we ask Mary to remember us as we continue our journey on earth
and to intercede for us with her Son that we may remain faithful to our call as disciples.
May we know God’s will for us at all times
and, like Mary, say our unconditional Yes to God.
Almighty God,
You gave a humble Virgin the privilege of being the mother of your Son
and crowned her with the glory of heaven.
May Mary’s prayers bring us to the salvation of Christ and raise us to eternal life.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God, forever and ever.
Amen.
Today highlights Mary's faith.
Mary's faith enabled her to recognize the work of God …
in her people's history and in her own life.
Her openness to God allowed God to work through her
so that salvation might come to all.
May we be like Mary, open and cooperative in God's plan of salvation.
