Updates from Consulate General of India, Toronto 32nd Gala dinner organized by South Asian Indian Centre of Windsor `` Consul General, Shri Dinesh Bhatia attended the 32nd Gala Dinner to celebrate the Asian Heritage month by South Asian Indian Centre of Windsor. Mayor Drew Dilkens of Windsor welcomed the Consul General. Consul General was the Key Note Speaker and addressed the vibrant Indo-Canadian community. Board members of ICA (India Canada Association) also met the Consul General during his visit to Windsor. Meeting with Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation and other businesses in the region of Windsor-Essex Consul General, Shri Dinesh Bhatia interacted with companies from Windsor-Essex region interested in doing business with India and also the Indian companies present in the region. Consul General briefed the companies about the relaxed FDI norms along with the ease of doing business in India. He also talked about the ways in which the Consulate can help identify opportunities for local companies to do business with India. Participating Companies included leadership from the likes of Ford Motor Company, Leggett & Platt Automotive, Champion Products, Green Shields, Level 1, Canadian Association Of Mold Makers, Acrolab, CMR Diagnostics, Cavalier Tools. Institutions like St. Clair College and University of Windsor also participated in the meeting. Vibrant Tamil Nadu Roadshow in Toronto Vice Consul (Commerce, Shri N S Siwach participated in the Vibrant Tamil Nadu Roadshow in Toronto. Vibrant Tamil is a Global Food Expo & Summit to be held in Madurai, Tamil Nadu from 12-15 August 2018. Shri Siwach addressed the gathering and talked about interesting facts on bilateral trade in the food sector between India and Canada. He appreciated the initiative and said that events like these are a platform for both countries to give the much needed boost to their trade and investments. The Expo has received a phenomenal response from Canada. A total of 15 delegates will be visiting the Expo in India.
Updates from India Visit of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to Russia Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin held their first informal Summit in the city of Sochi in the Russian Federation on May 21, 2018. The Summit provided an occasion for both leaders to deepen their friendship and to exchange views on international and regional issues, in keeping with the tradition of high level political exchanges between India and Russia. The two leaders agreed that the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia is an important factor for global peace and stability. Both leaders held detailed exchange of views on the national development plans and priorities. They expressed satisfaction over the deep trust, mutual respect and goodwill that characterizes relations between India and Russia. They agreed to institute a Strategic Economic Dialogue between NITI Aayog of India and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, to identify greater synergy in trade and investment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited President Putin for the 19th Annual Summit in India later in the year. Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2019 Ministry of External affairs, India, organizes “The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas” (PBD), in order to have a meaningful dialogue and mutually beneficial engagement between India and its Diaspora. In reverence to the sentiments of the larger diaspora community to participate in Kumbh Snan and their desires to witness the Republic Day Parade, the 15th PBD Convention, 2019 will be held from January 21-23, 2019 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in association with the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. The theme of the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, 2019 is “Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India”. Members of Indian Diaspora interested to participate in the above PBD Convention, 2019 may visit the website and register their names on www.pbdindia.gov.in/how-register. Know Your India Programme Know India Programme (KIP) of the Ministry of External Affairs is a three-week orientation programme for diaspora youth conducted with a view to promote awareness on different facets of life in India and the progress made by the country in various fields e.g. economic, industrial, education, science & technology, communication & information Technology, culture. KIP has now announced its 47th - 52nd editions with the partnering states of Tamil Nadu, Manipur & Mizoram, Karnataka, Gujarat, Bihar & Jharkhand and Daman & Diu and Maharashtra. Participants of 49 th to 52th KIP will also have the opportunity to participate in PBD Convention, 2019, Kumbh Snan (The Holy Ganges Bath) and the Republic Day Parade in January 2019.
