Mayor Dave Ryan and his team along with Mr. Xavier Diniz, Country Manager, Wipro Canada had in-depth discussions with Consul General about economic relations between the India & Canada. International Day Celebrations Shri Hoti Lal, Consul OCI and Shri Mahesh Chawla, Vice Consul, Administration & Culture, attended CFC's (Canadian Forces College) International Day celebrations on May 12, 2018. The celebrations were organised in the form of a Food Festival featuring cuisines from over 20 countries. Teeyan Da Mela celebrations on Mother’s Day Mr. D.P. Singh, Consul (Press, Information & Community Welfare) attended 'Teeyan Da Mela' celebrations on May 13, 2018. Teeyan Da Mela is one of the "World’s Largest Mega Event" organised by Watno Dur TV and Radio Network every year since 2004 on the occasion of Mother's Day. This is an event exclusively dedicated to ladies. Thousands of Ladies of every age group and culture gather to celebrate Teeyan, dance, enjoy and keep the famous Indian tradition alive. Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia International Award 2018 Mr. D.P. Singh, Consul (Press, Information & Community Welfare) attended the Annual celebration of Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia International Awards 2018 organized by Ramgarhia Sikh Foundation of Ontario (RSFO) on May 12, 2018. Mr. Singh distributed the awards to prominent sikhs on the occasion.
Updates from India Visit of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to Nepal Hon' Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi went on a State Visit to Nepal from 11 to 12 May 2018 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Nepal The Rt. Hon'ble K P Sharma Oli. Marking their second bilateral Summit in 2018, the two Prime Ministers held delegation level talks on 11 May 2018 in an atmosphere of utmost warmth and cordiality that characterizes the deep friendship and understanding between the two countries. The two Prime Ministers reiterated their resolve to work together to take bilateral relations to newer heights by strengthening ongoing cooperation in diverse spheres as well as expanding partnership for socio-economic development on the basis of the principles of equality, mutual trust, respect and mutual benefit. Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2019 Ministry of External affairs, India, organizes “The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas” (PBD), in order to have a meaningful dialogue and mutually beneficial engagement between India and its Diaspora. In reverence to the sentiments of the larger diaspora community to participate in Kumbh Snan and their desires to witness the Republic Day Parade, the 15th PBD Convention, 2019 will be held from January 21-23, 2019 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in association with the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. The theme of the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, 2019 is “Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India”.
