Day 01 | Intro This is where we are now. Presentation „Intro“, 19.10.2020 – Prof. Annette Bögle, HCU
Day 01 | Intro How are you imagining [y]our future? “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…” The words of Charles Dickens from A Tale of Two Cities (1859) seems so prescient some 160 years later. How will we merge our deep understanding of natural systems with the potential of Keynote the digital transformation so that the built environment we leave to the next generations is one to be proud of; not to cringe from. It seems so obvious that we should be utilizing the strengths of the digital transformation to create a more equitable world on so many levels. There are many lessons to be takin from Covid-19 as we observe the rapid adaptation of methods, tools and techniques which only one year ago seemed to be all but impossible. Can you imagine where this will lead? Can you imagine [y]our practice as a professional in twenty years? Lets try!. How Are You Imagining [Y]our Future? Chris Luebkeman’s career to date has spanned professions and geographies. His multidisciplinary Dr. Chris Luebkeman education (geology, civil engineering, structural engineering, entrepreneurship and a Doctorate in Architecture) was encouraged by his Mid-Western family of educators. His journey included ETH Zürich, Strategic Foresight Hub Vanderbilt, Cornell and the ETH in Zurich. He became an academic gypsy teaching courses on Design and on Technology at the University of Oregon, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and at MIT. He joined Arup in London to lead the Research and Development group in 1999 and became a corporate intrapreneur by founding the Foresight, Innovation and Incubation teams. He established the Drivers of Change program and is proud to have been accused by the Guardian to have a mindset “in league with the future”. He is deeply passionate about curating constructive Link Video: dialogue, insatiably curious, relishes the opportunity to discover the opportunities which will be created by change and, perhaps most importantly, to evolve positive solutions to the profound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_zMTb_oLlM challenges we face today. For twenty years he travelled the globe sharing his observations and insights by leading projects focused on the future for Arup, Arup’s clients and for many of the world’s leading institutions. For example, he has spoken at TED, hosted conversations at, and for, WEF and keynoted dozens of conferences around the world. He is a member of the nominating committee for the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, the external advisory Board of the URA and of Brain Trust of the Climate Music Project. He returned to the ETH in Zurich in 2020 as a strategic advisor to the President and Executive Board.

Day 02 | Baukultur Keynote What is Bauukultur and What is Bauukultur and Baukultur in the Digital Age? Baukultur is essential for creating a built environment that is considered worth living in and Baukultur in the Digital Age? contributes significantly to the quality of life in both cities and the countryside. In addition to social, ecological and economic aspects, Baukultur also has an emotional and aesthetic Inga Glander dimension. Its creation, appropriation and use are social processes that are based on a broad understanding about qualitative values and objectives. This includes modern technologies as German Federal Foundation Baukultur/ well as traditional crafts – the importance of Baukultur remains even in times of change. Bundesstiftung Baukultur, Germany Inga Glander: Dipl.-Ing. Architecture. Studied at Technical University Braunschweig and Universitat Politècnica de València. Project managment for several architecture firms in Berlin, including braun.busse.architekten and Pott Architects. Correspondence course in journalism at Freie Journalistenschule. Assistant of the board of the Federal Foundation of Baukultur since July 2018. Link Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4nS4aexBww

Day 03 | Craft Keynote Craft in a Digital Era. Craft in a Digital era. A Search for Earthly Paradise? The lecture discusses Arts and Crafts understood as a search for ”good life”. A number of A Search for Earthly Paradise? authors are introduced who basically are dealing with the relation between the ”hard” or rational and the ”soft” or humanistic and artistic Enlightenment. Manifestoes are presented as ”thick vague lists”. In the end a highly preliminary thick vague list of what DigiCarft could be Claes Caldenby. Prof. em. about is introduced, to open up for discussion. Chalmers University of Technology Claes Caldenby is professor emeritus in theory and history of architecture at Chalmers. He is also an architectural critic and an editor of the Swedish review of architecture. As a historian his interest has been mainly 20th century architecture and the history of ideas as an important aspect of architecture. Link Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLL1ZR5Uvk0

ISP1 ISP2 ISP3 ISP4 Day 4 Digital (Built) Environment
Day 04 | Digital Keynote Engineering architectural arguments - This lecture focuses on the technique finding shape, form, function and most importantly meaning in the early design stage development of buildings. systematic and practical approaches Based on case studies from works made in collaboration with different major Nordic architectural studios Kristoffer Negendahl gives his perspectives on for multivariate optimization how design, analysis and computation are shaping our built environment. Kristoffer Negendahl Assistant professor Kristoffer Negendahl represents the Technical Denmark Technical University university of Denmark and his research in application of scaled analysis of sustainability and circularity in early design stages. His background in building physics (Energy, thermal comfort and computer fluid dynamics) with the aspects on design optimization has been applied in practice as well Link Video: as his work in research and teaching. Kristoffer has been part of forming the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd2Zzq2WuQM internal r&d unit within Bjarke Ingels Group called BIGIDEAS, and have worked with BIG since 2015. Kristoffer is cofounder of Procedural.build which exists to organize and scale environmental-, life cycle - and sustainability analyses for architects and designers
