SKETCHING WITH CHEW Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:30 p.m. open to all ages Starts: January 12, 2021 Staff: Jamie Ann Chew Follow Jamie on this step-by-step sketching program and post your amazing creations. Don't forget to tag us! Classes will be available through Facebook Live www.facebook.com/calexicorecreation VIRTUAL FAMILY GAME DAY Days: Last Thursday of the month, 4:00-4:30 p.m. Starts: January 28, 2021 Staff: Recreation Staff Join us weekly for a fun-filled event planned for a scavenger hunt and other games! Be prepared to think and have an afternoon of laughter. Event will be available through Facebook Live & Zoom. VIRTUAL BASKETBALL CLASSES Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays Ages: 6-12 Yrs. Starts: January 12, 2021 Time: 3:30 p.m. Material needed: Basketball, (6) mini cones. (or any item that could be used as a floor marker). Children will learn the basic fundamentals. We recommend for kids to take these classes in an empty garage or at their front or back yards. No basketball hoop is needed. Class will be available through Facebook Live and Zoom. 2
GENERATION POUND Days: Mondays & Wednesdays Ages: 6-12 Yrs. Starts: January 20, 2021 Time: 3:30 p.m. Material needed: Ribstix® (please call the office for information on how to obtain). Generation Pound is a youth-oriented program that fuses movement and music to improve physical fitness, focus communication, teamwork, coordination, athletic skill, and more! Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted exercise drumsticks, kids will learn alternative ways to explore movement, embrace their creativity & ROCK OUT! Class available through Zoom only. (Class will be limited to a certain amount of participants). There is a $20.00 deposit required for equipment. Please call the office for more information. SR. AEROBICS DAYS: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays Time: 8:30 a.m. Instructor: Claudia Zamano Starts: January 12, 2021 All ages welcomed! Seniors, this is the right class for you! ZUMBA FOR ALL DAYS: Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays TIME: 4:30 p.m. Everyone is welcomed to join! YOGA FOR SENIORS DAYS: Wednesdays TIME: 1:00 p.m. Instructor: Gabby Ramirez Pedroza STARTS: January 13, 2021 Class is designed for Senior Citizens but all ages are welcomed. ARTS & CRAFTS KITS TO GO (SENIORS) Pick up Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Please read guidelines on page: 8 Craft kits with instructions will be available on a monthly basis. Participants already registered for Arts & Crafts will have priority; call us to sign up. Only available to Calexico residents due to availability. Pick up dates: 1/19, 2/16, 3/15, 4/12 SEWING TUTORIALS Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:00 a.m. Starts: January 12, 2021 Staff: Maria Curiel Learn how to sew with our beginner sewing tips and tutorials. Class will be available through Facebook Live Note: Tutorials will be in Spanish. 5
EL CAFECITO Seniors, join us once a month via Zoom to discuss your projects and show and tell as you enjoy your favorite cup of coffee. Fridays: 2/5, 3/5, 4/2, 4/30 11:00 a.m. HEALTH AND WELLNESS PRESENTATIONS We will have Health and Wellness presentations through Facebook Live. IN THE KITCHEN Join us for easy to follow recipes from the comfort of your own kitchen. Most recipes are quick and child friendly, Invite them to participate! The ingredient list will be announced a week prior for your convenience. THURSDAYS: 4:30-5:30 p.m. DATES: 1/28, 2/18, 3/11, 4/22. GUIDELINES FOR PROGRAMS ON ZOOM To register for programs that will be offered through Zoom, please call our office at 760 768-2176 or email us at recreation@calexico.ca.gov to receive Zoom meeting ID's and passwords. ID's and passwords will be emailed 30 minutes before the scheduled Zoom class. New ID's and passwords will be provided for those classes that have weekly sessions. People not registered will not be allowed in the Zoom class. Participants must have access to run Zoom on a computer, tablet, phone, or other devices. Please make sure you test Zoom App prior to joining class. The Recreation Department is not responsible for technical difficulties at home. We will be posting any materials needed for Zoom classes. It is the responsibility of the viewer to make sure they are ready for class. GUIDELINES FOR SENIOR ARTS AND CRAFTS CURBSIDE PICK UP Priority will be given to Senior Citizens previously registered to our Arts and Crafts Program. Craft Kits will be limited to City of Calexico Senior Citizen residents due to availability. Proof of residency might be required. Crafts Kits with instructions will be available for pick up at the Community Center, 707 Dool Ave. Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Please call us at (760) 768-2176 in advance before picking up to ensure a kit will be available for you. Please have identification and or residency verification ready. Once you arrive, please call our office for a staff member to deliver the kit to your vehicle.
