Our office is open Activities Coordinator: from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Feb. 10 Acra Styron Friday. Age cutoff for all March programs is March 1, 2021. PLEASE NOTE: If a program does 252-475-5920 not have a registration code, it requires a separate registration form and payment. Early registration is highly Youth Center Lobby: 252-475-5927 recommended. There is a $5 late fee for registering after the program’s registration deadline. Field Conditions, Game Cancellations & Youth We accept cash, check, money order, and credit or debit Center Hours: cards for programs with a registration code. IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN REGISTERING: Registration can be done online, or you can make an appointment to register in person. If there are issues with online registration, please call our office for assistance. A program is open until it is full. Once a program is full, children will be placed on a waiting list. If space becomes available, participants on the waiting list will be notified. Participants must meet the age requirement and play at age. Participants will not be allowed to play “up” or “down.” Participants must be Dare County residents. Programs/schedules are subject to change without notice. NEW COVID-19 SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES: All programs will follow all COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All participants must remain 6 feet or more apart, and when they are not 6 feet apart they must wear a mask. All participants will go through health screenings and temperature checks upon arrival each day, and they must be masked during this process. Please do not send your child to a program if they are not feeling well or if they have been around someone who has been sick or diagnosed with COVID-19. INCLEMENT WEATHER: In case of inclement weather, participants will be notified no later than one hour before the activity is scheduled to begin. There will be no penalties if the program is cancelled due to inclement weather. However, if a participant pre-registers and does not withdraw within 48 hours of the activity, there will be a $10 fee, and you may not be able to register for future programs.
YOUTH PICKLEBALL Codes: March 6 - Code 1663, March 13 - Code 1664, March 20 - Code 1665, March 27 - Code 1667 Ages: When: 8 and up Saturdays (March 6, 13, 20 & 27) 11 a.m. to noon Cost: $5 per individual per day Instructors: Payment will be taken the day of the activity. Kelli Miller and volunteers from our local pickleball group Where: Family Recreation Park tennis courts Class Size: Minimum 6. Maximum 12. Details: Come learn the fastest-growing sport in America. This fun game is a paddleball sport (similar to racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, table tennis and tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, much like a wiffle ball, with 26-40 round holes, over a net. Payment will be accepted the day of the activity. Payments will NOT be processed online. START SMART BASEBALL Code: When: 1666 Tuesdays & Thursdays from March 9 to March 25 Ages: 5:30-6:15 p.m. Ages 3-5 Deadline: Cost: March 5 or until full $40 Class Size: Where: Minimum 6. Maximum 12. Family Recreation Park softball field Instructors: Nate Hall & Acra Styron Details: This is a parent and child program. Each child participant will receive a bat and ball set, one glove, Koosh balls and a participant manual that will help the parent and child teams work together, ensuring each child progresses at their own pace. Please specify if a left-handed glove is needed. Payments will be accepted upon registration and online.
SPRING KIDS GARDEN CLUB Code: When: 1668 Wednesdays March 10-31 3:30-4:45 p.m. Ages: Ages 8-12 (grades 3-6) Class Size: Minimum 3. Maximum 10. Cost: $20 Where: Family Recreation Park playground Instructor: area and picnic pavilion Jenna Wienert Details: Kids will contribute to the Youth Center Kids Garden planning and maintenance, start seedlings for spring and summer, and learn additional concepts to enhance their knowledge and love of nature. Each participant will have the opportunity to take home their own growing plants at the end of the 4-week club so they can be planted in a container or garden. We will provide all of the necessary supplies that will be used, except the containers. Payments will be accepted upon registration and online. OTHER PROGRAMS: 2021 GIRLS SOFTBALL Address: Registration Ages: DCGBRS, P.O. Box 931 Ages 6-12 Manteo, N.C., 27954 Registration Instructions: To register your child for 2021 Dare County Girls Softball, please fill out a form (these can be picked up at the Northern Beach Division of the Dare County Parks and Recreation Department) and mail it to the address above along with the registration fee of $45 for the first child and $20 for each additional child. Registration will end at Skills Day. Please make checks payable to DCGBRS. Roanoke Island / Mainland Division Players Skills Day will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Westcott Park. 8U @ 9-10:30 a.m. — 10U @ 10:30-11:30 a.m. — 12U @ 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Northern Beach Division Players Skills Day will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Family Recreation Park. 8U @ 1-2 p.m. — 10U @ 2-2:30 p.m. — 12U @ 2:30-3 p.m. For more information, please email dcgirlsyouthsoftball@gmail.com or message the Facebook account “Dare County Girls Youth Softball.”

Dates: Practices will start in late March. Games will run from approximately April 17 to May 22.
