THE SCHOOL • A family-run school established in 1969 • The #1 ranked school in the UK based upon British Council Inspectors’ publishable statements • Located in two fine old buildings close to the university in Clifton, one of Bristol’s most attractive areas. • Accredited by the British Council and inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) • A member of TEN, a group of 10 independent schools with a reputation for quality and personal service.
COURSES • 21 full hours of classroom time per week plus daily homework • 4 hours per week optional supervised self-study • Average class size: 10 (maximum 14) • General English has 6 levels from A2 (Elementary) to C2 (Advanced), with more than one class at most levels • As part of your course, depending on your level, you can prepare for the Cambridge English First, Advanced and Proficiency exams, IELTS or BULATS • Minimum Level: A2 (Elementary) for General English, B1 (Intermediate) for exam preparation • Optional free language activities including Conversation Club, Job Club, Friday Film Club and guest speakers • Free e-learning from the time of registration up to 12 weeks after the end of the course
SUMMER COURSES • The summer courses run from June to September. • During July and August we open an additional study centre in Clifton College, just 2 minutes’ walk from Pembroke House • The summer centre has spacious classrooms, a beautiful garden and wonderful facilities. • The courses include 21 full teaching hours per week • They are run in the same way as our courses throughout the year with intensive General English and examination preparation • The summer courses are suitable for motivated students aged 16+ • During July and August, lunch is an option in the college for all our students

SOCIAL PROGRAMME • Led by the teachers • At least two activities during the week • A full day excursion every Saturday • Football match against the teachers on Thursday Examples of activities: International Food Party, pub tour, music at the Old Duke, theatre, pub quiz, visit to BBC studios, Laser Fusion, pool, Salsa Night, Banksy Tour (Graffiti), Bristol Beer Factory Tour, Friday Lunch Club, Afternoon Tea at Browns, school parties, Bowling, ELC’s Got Talent, etc. Examples of Excursions: Cambridge, London, Oxford, Bath, Glastonbury, Harry Potter Studios, Cardiff, Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, Gower Peninsula, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon.
