Burgundy, the terroir of women DAY 1 PARIS – CHABLIS – VAULT DE LUGNY In Paris, visit of two iconic places related to Burgundy: the Eiffel Tower, designed by Gustav Eiffel who born in Burgundy and shopping in le Bon Marché founded by Marguerite Boucicaud who also was Burgundian. DAY 1 PARIS – CHABLIS – VAULT DE LUGNY The Château de Béru located in the Chablis wine region has been the Béru family estate for over 400 years. Today Laurence and her daughter Athénaïs are running the domain and you will visit the Château with Laurence and taste the famous Clos de Béru vinified by Athénaïs who has adopted organic farming since 2004. DAY 1 PARIS – CHABLIS – VAULT DE LUGNY Spending the first night in Château de Vault de Lugny, a 5* hotel Château, situated at 15 minutes from Vézelay and run by Elisabeth Bourzeix, who bought it 30 years ago.
Burgundy, the terroir of women DAY 2 VEZELAY – FLAVIGNY-SUR-OZERAIN – RELAIS BERNARD LOISEAU A focal point for Christianity, Vézelay is also a charming hilltop village. The climb to the basilica is an unforgettable experience: the beautiful medieval houses run right along the main street. At the summit of the Eternal Hill, the basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine is a masterpiece of Romanesque art that is listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. DAY 2 VEZELAY – FLAVIGNY-SUR-OZERAIN – RELAIS BERNARD LOISEAU Flavigny sur Ozerain village is classified Most Beautiful Village of France and it is where the movie Le Chocolat was shot. Meet Catherine Troubat in the Anis de Flavigny factory in a former Benedictine Abbey. She and will share with you the story of the sweets that have delighted the world for more than 400 years. DAY 2 VEZELAY – FLAVIGNY-SUR-OZERAIN – RELAIS BERNARD LOISEAU Relais Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu is a 5* Relais et Château in the heart of Burgundy. The owner and managing director of that gorgeous address, Dominique Loiseau, opened last year a wonderful new spa. Taste the gorgeous dishes prepared by Patrick Bertron, a 2 star Michelin Chef and a selection of Burgundy wines chosen by the sommelier Eric Gütelman elected the best sommeiier of France in 2018.
Burgundy, the terroir of women DAY 3 BEAUNE: HOSPICES DE BEAUNE – TERROIRS BY ADELINE – MAISON BLANCHE Beaune is the wine capital of Burgundy. Its superb Hôtel Dieu (also called the Hospices de Beaune) is one of the largest estates established since the 15th century. As you stroll through the vineyards, you may meet its cellar master, Ludivine Grivaud. Heading up about twenty winegrowers, she makes resolute but considered decisions to firmly anchor this institution in the 21st century. DAY 3 BEAUNE: HOSPICES DE BEAUNE – TERROIRS BY ADELINE – MAISON BLANCHE Women in Burgundy are in the vineyards and also in the kitchen, and sometimes they combine the two, as did Adeline Borra, originally from Beaune, a chef who’s also certified in wine (WSET), who spent time in the USA and Italy before launching "Terroirs By Adeline" in 2018, a new concept based on the creation of unique and exclusive food and wine experiences for enthusiasts, beginners and connoisseurs alike DAY 3 BEAUNE: HOSPICES DE BEAUNE – TERROIRS BY ADELINE – LA MAISON BLANCHE After an amazing day, check in your bags at Maison Blanche, a chic, cosy guest house where you’ll be welcomed by Nadine Bélissant Reydet, who knows Beaune and all its best places like the back of her hand. Burgundy, the terroir of women DAY 4 BEAUNE: CHATEAU DE CHASSAGNE- MONTRACHET – ABBAYE DE MORGEOT The adventure continues as you leave Beaune by the Route des Grands Crus, next meeting with Francine Picard, the owner of the Château de Chassagne- Montrachet. This contemporary art lover has set out her stall for her estate, namely as home to quality, sustainable viticulture, always letting the land have the final say. At the château, she has focused on wine tourism with a table d'hôte menu service and designer rooms for a truly epicurean stay! DAY 4 BEAUNE: CHATEAU DE CHASSAGNE- MONTRACHET – ABBAYE DE MORGEOT Next door, visit Morgeot Abbey where Amélie de Mac Mahon, Duchess of Magenta will receive you by appointment. This Scottish lady, full of humour, settled in Burgundy 25 years ago for the love of the place ... and even went back to school to "learn wine". "I'm here and I'm staying" is her motto and, as for wine, her credo involves a well-reasoned approach: traditional ploughing and manual harvesting.
