SUPPORTING LEARNING AT HOME Here is a link to a very helpful guide for parents filled with resources for supporting learning at home. Supporting Learning at Home: a Guide for Parents and Other Providers of Care NETIQUETTE Please remind your child about the correct and appropriate ways of communicating, appearing (appropriate clothing), and backgrounds used during live class Zoom meetings. Even though they are learning from home, we still follow the school district’s code of conduct. STUDENT ATTENDANCE If in the event of your child is going to be absent from their BLFH online classes, please call those in to your child’s home-based school’s main office. 2
BRANDON DISTANCE LEARNING PARENT NEWSLETTER WEEK OF JANUARY 4, 2021 MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS Any BLFH students interested in participating in winter sports, please be sure to sign up by sending an email to the respective coach (see below) or to Athletic Director Chris Deines: cdeines@brandon.k12.mi.us. As long as there are no other extensions or restrictions to the current MDHHS orders, both high school and middle school sports are set to resume on or after January 4th, 2021. See the practice start dates and coach contact information below. If you have any other questions, please contact the athletic department. Middle School – Winter 1 Re-Start Date: 7th & 8th Volleyball: restart on January 4th with contests starting Jan 11th… Teams may practice in December if they choose to. SENIOR GRADUATION CAP & GOWN PACKETS If your child is a Senior, Herff Jones Class of 2021 graduation packets are in and available to the I-Tec Center. Please make sure you pick this extremely important and time sensitive information ASAP! 3
BRANDON DISTANCE LEARNING PARENT NEWSLETTER WEEK OF JANUARY 4, 2021 FREE SCHOOL MEALS The United States Department of Agricultural (USDA) has made the announcement they are extending FREE meals through June 2021. This will allow school nutrition programs to continue to feed children through the pandemic. ALL children 18 years of age and younger (including young siblings) will be provided breakfast and lunch at no cost to families. These were handed out to online families during device deployment days, but the BSD Technology Department would like to continue to reinforce the information.
