Yidarra Catholic Primary School Newsletter: Term 4, Week 1 Friday, 16 October 2020 Prayer for the New Term Heavenly Father, At the commencement of this new term We praise you and thank you for the gift of life And for the opportunity of growth awaiting us. We thank you for love – the love and concern of our families, our friends and our teachers. We ask you to bless each of us for the term ahead. Help us to grow in faith, in goodness and in generosity. Create in us a capacity for giving that will make us worthy to be called Christian. We make this prayer through your Son, Jesus. Amen
Principal’s News Welcome to Term 4, we hope everyone has had a restful and well-deserved break, and each of you is looking forward to the final term for 2020. In particular, we welcome those families who are new to our school community. Our students, arrived at school on Tuesday looking happy and enthusiastic to be back at school, as were our hardworking staff, after a refreshing break. Term Four is always an exciting term and one full of many events. Please ensure you check the term calendar and mark dates for any events that your families will be required to attend e.g. Graduation, First Reconciliation, Confirmation and the Athletics Sports Carnivals etc. Rosary In our Australian Catholic tradition October is designated as the Month of the Rosary. The praying of the Rosary is a wonderful way to get into the habit of daily prayer. In this month of October, let us consider this beautiful prayer of the Rosary as a means that we can use to help ourselves and our families draw closer to Jesus and Mary by meditating on the great mysteries of our salvation. Mary’s message is particularly important for us during these times. We need her intercession in a world that is desperately in need of unity, hope and peace. Summer Uniform Thank you parents for supporting the school uniform policy by sending your child to school well-groomed and dressed in their summer uniform. A reminder hats and water bottles are also required.
Principal’s News Catholic Schools of Excellence Term 4 is a term when the Leadership Team and the staff at Yidarra review goals and processes and plan our strategic initiatives for 2021, to ensure that our school has a constant improvement framework in place. On the pupil free day last Monday our staff reviewed our school Evangelisation Plan. Every Catholic school in WA is mandated to develop its own evangelisation plan with priorities, strategies and outcomes for staff, students and the school community outlined for a three-year period. The focus for evangelisation is to ensure that everything that happens in the school promotes, develops and gives witness to the Catholic faith and is centred on a personal relationship with God and others. To evangelise is to make Jesus central and to share his good news with others and enter into a personal relationship with him. The school demonstrates evangelisation when its members give witness to Christ by sharing their experience of Christ and by helping build a life-giving Christian community. Amalgamation Consultation As you are aware, there is currently much consultation taking place with regard to the possible amalgamation of Yidarra Catholic Primary School and Corpus Christi College. An important part of the decision around the amalgamation of Yidarra Catholic Primary School and Corpus Christi College into one K – 12 college is the consultation with the two school communities and the St Thomas More parish. Accordingly, you are invited to participate in this consultation process by completing a survey that has been placed on the CEWA Connect portal. Each of the four sub-committees has met at least once and the school/parish representatives involved are keen to hear the views of as many people as possible. The following link will take you to a survey and to some frequently asked questions (thus far); https://connect.cewa.edu.au/ccy - please note that the survey is open from now until next Monday, 19 October. God Bless, Carmel Costin Principal

School News Faction Athletics Carnival Tuesday, 30 October is our faction carnival day. We would love to see you on this day to support and encourage your children as they compete. The scores from the field events (completed during PE lessons) will carry over to the carnival. Please ensure your child is sent to school with a hat and water bottle both labelled. Students are encouraged to bring their own morning tea and lunch. The canteen will only operate on Carnival Day for those students that have placed an order. Whilst we endeavour to ensure all events run smoothly and on time, we cannot prepare for every unforseen circumstance. There may be inaccuracies in the carnival’s scheduling and recording, and whilst this is unfortunate, please remember to support the school and recognise the many positives of our school carnival. The purpose of our carnival is participation, encouragement, leadership and building school and team spirit. Four recorders are needed for the day as well as assistance with the set up and pack up on the day. If you are able to assist please let me know via rob.debowski@cewa.edu.au Below is the timetable for the day, a copy will be forwarded to your SEQTA account.
