Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year! We're excited for the opportunity to start school in an innovative way! The Blue Ridge staff is committed to providing you with the tools and resources needed to be successful. Orientation Overview Includes: • Daily Schedule • Social-Emotional Wellness • ASU Prep Digital Curriculum • Laptops & Hotspots • Canvas • Student Schedules • Morning Announcements • The First Day of School!
Distance Learning Daily Schedule This schedule prevents teachers from overlapping assigned work. It also provides 4 hours of direct online instruction in our core and elective classes, with 2 ½ hours of tutorial and enrichment for students needing extra help and/or support. Social-Emotional Support We provide Social-Emotional supports during distance learning, on-campus, or participating in a hybrid schedule: • Daily announcements and assemblies available on the BRJH school website and Canvas. • We provide students, parents and staff supports via links, trainings and appointments in person (when allowed), and online using Canvas Office and Zoom. • Students may be invited to participate in small groups. • Individual student contact will be achieved weekly. • Resources are provided to help keep youth safe.

Laptops and Hotspots All students receive a laptop. Hotspots are available to households without internet connectivity. Junior High Laptop and Hotspot Distribution: Thursday, August 6th, at the Blue Ridge High School parking lot. Device distribution times Last names A –L – Pick up time 9:00 – 12:00 Last names M – Z – Pick up time 3:00 – 6:00 (Please try to arrive at your designated time period to help us control the flow of traffic. If you are unable to pick up during your scheduled time, you can pick up your device at the alternate time.)
Canvas Students use Canvas, our online learning management system. From Canvas, students can: • View & submit assignments • Connect with teachers & classmates • Take assessments • Students will access Canvas with their network username and password. Zoom • All teachers will host live zoom sessions on August 10th. Schedules for weekly live sessions will be shared by teachers. • Students will access Zoom meetings through their Canvas portal. • Zoom settings are private, ensuring a secure setting.
Student Schedules Student schedules available through Parent Vue by August 6th. Printed schedules will not be mailed. Parents: To view your child's schedule, you must have an active account in Parent Vue. If you have not enrolled your child through Parent Vue, please visit https://az- blr.edupoint.com/PXP2_Login.aspx. Parent Vue can also be accessed through brusd.org. If you need assistance, please call Heather Fuller at (928) 368-6126, ext. 4401 or email hfuller@brusd.org. Student Vue will not be activated until August 10th.
Morning Announcements Morning announcements are recorded daily, beginning August 10th, and posted on the JHS website at https://www.brusd.org/domain/1170. Be sure to watch the announcements on August 10th for information on accessing your student accounts! Students are encouraged to watch morning announcements for current school information, virtual assemblies, contests, and helpful resources.

First Day of School, continued Your online instruction will be complete at 1:00. Teachers are available from 1:00 – 3:30, Monday through Thursday, for tutorials or questions. You will be able to communicate with your teacher through email or Canvas. Make sure you ask questions if you need help! Your 5th period class is an enrichment class. Your enrichment teacher will reach out to you through Canvas to explain your options in Enrichment.
Athletics Practices for fall sports will begin on August 17th. Football Softball Cross Country In-person conditioning may begin in small groups (no more than 10) starting August 5th.
