WELCOME! ASB-Day: 20 years in the making Hi Friends, On behalf of the ASB-Day planning committee, I am thrilled to welcome you to the ASB 20 year reunion gala. It has been an enormous privilege to be the Program Coordinator for the Center for Volunteerism and Social Action and as I think back on the past 20 years of ASB I am humbled and full of gratitude by members of our community. There is a quote by Margaret Mead that says, “never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” This quote has guided me as I have overseen our incredible program. I have watched as students change their academic major to something they learned about on an ASB, community partners open their homes and their share their lives with our groups, alumni continue to advocate for and serve with an organization they worked with, and more. The impacts of this program are endless and inspiring. A part of this program that I love, is the community that it has created. When stepping into this role, I did not realize that I would join, and be embraced by, a global family of people committed to serving their communities as agents of change. ASB alters the idea of service from something you do every now and again to something that becomes a part of your identity, a form of service that is rooted in critical reflection, intersectionality, and on-going passion for equity. Our ASB community is special. We are tied together by our love for community. Getting to celebrate that and the people who have made these past 20 years possible is why we are here. Thank you for your commitment to service and your participation with the University of Idaho ASB program. Happy 20 years, y’all! Best, Amber Schneider

MEET THE COMMITTEE It takes a team to put together an event that commemorates 20 years full of service, memories, and incredible people. When the idea to have this event was first born, we knew it would take some incredible alumni to pull it off. Luckily, ASB alumni are always up to the challenge! Over the span of four months, this crew met up biweekly to make this celebration week happen to help reconnect alumni and celebrate the impact of the University of Idaho ASB program. Meet the incredible committee who devoted their time to reconnecting with ASB and making this project come to life. Spanning from all years of ASB, their hard work has paid off and reignited a sense of community and active citizenship we can all use right now.
