Government Schemes |June 2021 GOVERNMENT SCHEMES CURRENT AFFAIRS Cabinet approves MoC between India & Japan on Sustainable Urban Development The Union Cabinet approved a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Sustainable Urban Development between India and Japan. It has suspended the existing MoC from 2007 on Urban Development. It aims to facilitate and strengthen India-Japan technical cooperation in the areas of sustainable urban development and other areas that both countries will mutually identify. Health Minister launches revamped health schemes Apart from the Umbrella Schemes of Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) and the Health Minister's Discretionary Grant, Harsh Vardhan launched revamped Central Government Health Schemes (CGHS) (HMDG). According to the health minister, due to a lack of timely intervention, delayed response, and other obstacles, the poor and needy people of the country were unable to benefit from all of the country's flagship health schemes. All the schemes are now paperless, cashless, and citizen-centric. Maharashtra Launched Corona-Free Village Competitions Maharashtra Government launches “Corona-free Village Competitions” to ensure the precautionary measures being followed in the villages. The winning villages will be receiving rewards up to Rs. 50 lakhs. The first prize is ₹50 lakh, the second is ₹25 lakh and the third is ₹15 lakh. Villages will be judged on the basis of 22 criteria set up by the committee. Seed Minikit Programme launched Union Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, has launched a seed Minikit program. They have distributed high-yielding varieties of seeds of oilseeds and pulses to the farmers. This programme is launched with an intention of introducing a new variety of seeds to the farmers and are provided by NAFED, National Seeds Corporation (NCS), and Gujarat State Seeds Corporation. This is a Government-funded program through the National Food Security Mission. Mission Innovation CleanTech Exchange The mission has been launched virtually at “Innovating to Net Zero Summit, 2021″ which was organized by Chile. It will give companies access to the expertise and market knowledge they need to assist new technologies and gain access to new markets around the world. 2

Under the scheme, 12,300 tablets with preloaded online and offline content like textbooks, video lectures, and online class applications will be distributed among students from Class 6th to 12th in government schools. Kerala launches ‘Knowledge Economy Mission’ Kerala has launched the mission to boost job prospects in the state by supporting knowledge workers. The project will be launched in order to consolidate ongoing efforts to employ educated people and support "knowledge workers" into a single program. Knowledge economy fund will be created for the fundings and implementation processes. For knowledge workers who work close to their homes and interact with employers, a plan will be created to provide basic facilities and a social security system. Senior Care Ageing Growth Engine (SAGE) Project Senior care Ageing Growth Engine or SAGE project to be launched by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, on 4th June 2021. The SAGE project will be launched with the goal of selecting, supporting, and creating "one- stop access" to elderly care products and services provided by trustworthy start-ups. Surakshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan In order to provide home-care support to asymptomatic covid-19 patients or patients with mild symptoms, ‘Surakshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan’ has been launched by NITI Aayog and Piramal Foundation. This mission aims to provide home-care support to 20 lakh people. It will be led by district magistrates in collaboration with over a thousand local non- governmental organizations. NGOs will hire and train about one lakh volunteers to make 3

Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centers for children Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, opened 14 Cross- Disability Early Intervention Centers at 7 National Institutes and 7 Composite Regional Centers (CRCs). Screening, identification, rehabilitation, counseling, and therapeutic services for various disabilities will be provided under one roof in a contiguous manner. M.P. to launch ‘Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan’ Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan or “free from corona with the help of youth power campaign” will be launched to raise awareness about Covid-19. Under this, near about 16 lakh students and college teachers will be made aware of covid-19 infection by teaching them Covid appropriate behavior and vaccination. PROJECT O2 for INDIA The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government has launched “Project O2 for India” with the aim of maintaining the supply of critical raw materials such as zeolites, compressor manufacturing, and the establishment of small oxygen plants. A committee of experts has been formed to evaluate critical equipment such as concentrators, oxygen plants, and ventilators from Indian start-ups, manufacturers, and MSMEs (MSMEs). Assam signs MoU with Survey of India to implement Svamitva Svamitva scheme aims to provide an integrated property validation solution in rural areas. Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and Assam Government’s Department of Revenue and Disaster Management with the support of Panchayat and Rural Development will be implementing the scheme. This scheme aims to reduce disputes and legal cases related to property across rural areas. Center to link innovative agriculture technologies to farms in Northeast Region The Biotech-KISAN program to be implemented in the Northeast with the aim of integrating innovative agriculture technologies to small and marginal farmers' farms. Hubs in NER will collaborate with Indian scientific institutions, such as State Agricultural Universities or Krishi Vigyan Kendras, as part of the program. QCI launches Indian Certification of Medical Devices Plus Scheme “Indian Certification of Medical Devices Plus (ICMED) Scheme” has been launched by the Quality Council of India (QCI) and the Association of Indian Manufacturers of Medical Devices (AiMeD). Thi scheme will undertake the verification of the quality, safety, and efficacy of medical devices. 4

The program aims to provide holistic support to children in need of care & protection and to the survivors of sexual abuse. Gujarat launches Agricultural Diversification Scheme Agricultural Diversification Scheme-2021 has been launched by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, to benefit the farmers of tribal areas. The tribal farmers will be provided with fertilizer-seed assistance of Rs. 31 crores under this scheme. Approximately 45 kg of urea, 50 kg of NPK, and 50 kg of ammonium sulphate will be provided to these farmers. Delhi launched Mukhyamantri Covid-19 Pariwar Aarthik Sahayata Yojana Delhi government has launched the scheme to provide financial assistance to the families who lost a member due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a notification from the Social Welfare Department, every family that has lost a member due to the pandemic will receive Rs 50,000 as an ex-gratia payment. Families who have lost their sole breadwinner due to the covid-19 pandemic will receive a monthly pension of Rs 2,500. West Bengal approves Student Credit Card scheme “Student Credit Card scheme” will be launched on 30th June 2021 to benefit the students with a soft loan of up to ₹10 lakh with the help of a credit card to enroll in higher studies both in India as well as abroad with 4% of interest. Students will be given fifteen years for the repayment of loans. Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project The scheme aims to improve the management capacity and quality of health services in Mizoram. The project would also fund a comprehensive Quality Assurance programme, which would allow health facilities to be certified as being of high quality. NSDC-WhatsApp launched Digital Skill Champions Programme National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and WhatsApp have launched the scheme with the aim of training Indian youth on digital skills in order to make them employment- ready. School and university students will be taught how to use digital and online skills as part of this programme. These abilities would culminate in WhatsApp and NSDC certifying them as "Digital Skill Champions." 5
Government Schemes |June 2021 World Bank sanctions funds for Andhra’s SALT program The “SALT” program stands for “Supporting Andhra's Learning Transformation.” This program was created with the goal of improving basic education learning outcomes, teaching practices, and school management. The program not only focuses on basic education, but on curriculum reform, improving classroom practices, teacher professional development, and preparing students to be globally competitive by introducing English as a medium of instruction across all State-run educational institutions. Cabinet approves PMGKY 4.0 Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana- 4 will be launched from July 2021 to November 2021. Under this scheme, free food grains will be provided at 5 kg per person per month. The National Food Security Act (NFSA), Antyodaya Anna Yojana, and Priority Households will cover 81.35 crore beneficiaries under Phase 4 of the scheme. It will also benefit those who are enrolled in the Direct Benefit Transfer programme (DBT). 6
