April Genoa Chamber Chatter Spring is officially here! However, it sure does not feel like spring outside. I am sure you are like me and continue to wait anxiously for the warmer weather. Happy April to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. It was a special Easter for me because it was the first holiday that we cele- brated with my daughter Lily who was born in March. My wife and I are still learning to live with no sleep! There were some exciting events that took place in Genoa during the month of March. The Genoa Christian Church hosted a Beef & Noodle Special points of in- Dinner on March 10th. I was told that the turnout was great for this terest: event. On March 24th the Allen-Clay Fire District hosted a Reverse Raffle. This is always a wonderful event. There will be numerous other great fund- Paint and Sip April 19th 6-8:30pm Legion raising events taking place in April. On April 21st the Genoa Little League Hall will be having a Reverse Raffle to help raise money for the kids. I would encourage everyone to try to attend this event. Furthermore, on April 24th Genoa Little League Reverse Raffle April the Allen-Clay Fire District will be having a Chicken BBQ. Stop by the 21st Genoa Fire Station to have some delicious chicken! Meal tickets will be sold at the door. The Genoa Chamber continues to get ready for the Car Allen-Clay JFD Chick- en BBQ April 24th Shows that are coming soon. We will be sending out flyers soon for these events and we have already started to design this year’s T-Shirts. Please con- Relay for Life Fund- tinue to spread the word about the Car Shows. Al- ways have an umbrella handy because the spring rainstorms are here. Just remember that April showers bring May flowers! Let’s hope this is true and better weather is on the way. GENOA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Business Meeting March 1, 2018 2018 @Ray’z Café @ 7:30AM The meeting was brought to order by President, Luke Sutter. Those in attendance were: Jenny Caughorn, Luke Sutter Carly Crabb, Brent Huston, Brad Sander, Braden Ruch, Rebecca Booth, Ken Harsanje, Mark Stahl and Marsha Lee. Guest included Ellen Bergman and Thomas Bergman Secretary’s report: was corrected and approved Treasurer’s Report: approved New Business: Ellen Bergman was here to report on the GAR building. She is requesting to use the Chamber 501c3 status for the GAR project. She also has been in contact with Zeake concerning the car shows. His biggest concern is more parking is needed and more workers to park the cars Brian Huston met with the Visitor’s Bureau in March and presented the goals for the Visitor’s Bureau Rebecca Booth presented the calendar of events for Genoa and feels a better route for getting the calendars out is needed. Ottawa County Leadership is organizing a Reverse Raffle fund raiser for May 5th at the Fair Grounds. The monies go towards supporting a Women’s Home in Port Clinton similar to the home for men. Old Business: It has been confirmed that we now have a 501c3. A new account needs to be set up to sepa- rate the funds Chamber Board: Luke Sutter, President Bill Kegerize, Immediate Past President Vice President Carly Crabb has stepped up to this position Treasurer Tim Davies if he can change the computer program Marsha Lee, Secretary Committee Reports: Commissioner’s Report Mark Stahl thanked the Leadership Committee for their Ottawa County Project. Things are happening at Davis Besse.. Riverview has started their Assisted Living. Mayor’s Report :The Bike Trail is progressing and set to be finished by 2020. The Land Bank is working. The house between Cherry St and the old RR tracks and the house at the south end of Washington St have been demolished. A house at the north end of Washington St is slated next. Representative .Randy Gardner has obtained grants to do improvements in the Town Hall .New paint, carpet, Bell Tower and elevator are on the list. Speed limit has been changed from SR 51 to Hellwig Rd. It is now 45mph going both ways. Economic Development Committee announced The Grain House will now be opened on Fridays.. Scholarship Committee needs to be updated. Genoa Merchants Meeting Date: April 3, 2018 Attendance: Dave Grosjean, Teresa Lewis, Barb Flietz, Cheryl Grosjean, Ken Harsanje, Chief Brad Weis, Todd Mocniak and Marsha Lee The Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday, March 31, 1:00PM at Veteran’s Park. The weather held off and they were able to have it in the park. The Fire Department Reverse Raffle was successful. Thank you to the businesses and the people who supported it. Packer Creek Pottery Spring Open House will be April 13, 14, 15th. Regular hours on Friday, Saturday from 10:00am until 6:00pm and Sun- day from 11:00am until 4:00pm Next Homecoming meeting will be April 10th, 5:30 @ Genoa Retirement Village Just a Reminder: Merchant Meetings will be held the first and third Tuesday of each month.
