The 114th Canadian Men’s Amateur was next which MEMBERS PHOTOS was held at Duncan Meadows & Pheasant Glen Golf Clubs in British Columbia. Both courses hosted 240 golfers between the two locations, including teams from every Canadian province, as well as golfers from Europe, the USA & Australia. Unfortunately, Justin’s clubs were lost in transit by his airline, so he was unable to play a practice round prior to the tournament proper which resulted in a first round 78. Not to be discouraged, he hit straight back with a second round 64 (course record) followed by rounds of 65, 66 for a th total of 11 under and outright 5 . A wonderful result. The Canadian Amateur is considered in such high standing that the winner gets automatic entry into the Canadian Open which is an event on the USPGA tour. Tony Donnellan - Anyone see where my ball went? Justin took an enormous amount of confidence out of this tournament and proceeded to shoot 69 in the first qualifying round of the US amateur. He then shot 72 after a bad putting round which means he just missed out on qualifying but the experience he has gained playing with and against the best amateurs in the world is invaluable. To the Board of Directors and Members of Antill Park Country Golf Club, I would like to start off by thanking everyone who came out and supported the golf day to help raise money for several tournaments I’m going to be playing in the United States. It was great to see so many familiar faces, as well as some fresh ones coming out to have some fun and support the day. With only eight days to prepare for the day we were unsure of how many starters we may get, but to see a turnout of 54 players was amazing so thank you for taking time out of your day to come along. There are a lot of people that need to be thanked and the list could go forever, but I’m going to keep it short and sweet. Firstly, thank you to Brett Chappell for all the work he put in to organize the day. Brett took the initiative to get this golf day going and played a huge role in making sure the day ran as smoothly as it did. Brett also provided the Krispy Kreme’s which were a big hit on the day. So, thank you for all your help Brett. Thank you to the Board of Directors and the club for allowing me to have this day and supporting me over the years. Thank you to Dane Price from Titleist for donating the prizes that were given out on the day. Thank you to Ryan Tierney and R Coffee Co for donating vouchers for the day. Thank you to Danny and Kevin James, Tony Mahoney and Nutrano, Paul Sironen and Brett Chappell, The Australian Golf Club, and Gary Barter for donating auction items. Thank you to John Walton for coming and doing a fantastic job as the auctioneer for the evening. The auction was a lot of fun and a great success. Thank you to all for taking part in the auction and for your generosity. I’d also like to say a personal thank you to Glenn Helman and Campbelltown Plumbing Services. Glen has been a long-time supporter of me, as well as Antill Park for several years. Thank you for your support, Glenn. We completely smashed all expectations in every aspect of the day which was phenomenal. The success of the day and the amount of money raised is a credit to Antill Park and its membership. The achievements of this day reflect the values that the club and its membership hold, and everyone should be proud to be a part of the culture that has been created Antill Park. www.antillpark.com.au
With the amount of money raised, I’m now able to play all the events I wished to play in the U.S. over the next four weeks. It will also go toward any expenses I incur over my last year of university in the U.S. that my scholarship might not have fully covered (rent, bills, car insurance etc.). I can now go to the PGA of Australasia Qualifying School in December. I can also go to Melbourne in January and compete in the Australian Master of the Amateurs and the Australian Amateur. I am eternally grateful for the opportunities that this day has provided me for the future. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and your generosity. I hope to one day return the favor to Antill Park and its members for everything they have done for me. Thank you all again, and I hope to see you at the NSW Open in November. Best Wishes and Happy Golfing, Justin Warren www.antillpark.com.au
