PRAYER FOR THE NEW INCUMBENT Bountiful God, Give to this parish a faithful pastor who will faithfully speak your word and minister your sacraments; an encourager who will equip our people for ministry and enable us to fulfil our calling. Give to those who will choose, wisdom, discernment and patience and to us give warm and generous hearts, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen. Charity of the Month – January CBM/Fred Hollows Foundation The Fred Hollows Foundation has a very clear goal: to put an end to avoidable blindness. When this day comes, people in developing countries will get the same quality eye care the rest of the world takes for granted. CBM is an International Christian development organisation devoted to improving the lives of people with disabilities in the poorest places on earth. Poverty and disability go hand in hand creating a cycle of inequality, isolation and exclusion that leads to the most extreme forms of poverty. ANNUAL LEAVE: Rev’d Ingrid will be on holidays over the next two weeks. Wardens Judy Sperling (0421 020 447) and Cathy Richards (0407 637 515) will attend to any incident arising. Thank you 2
Thought for the Day …… MARK 1:14-20 Jesus is calling His disciples! Let us reflect on our own calling. When did we make the decision to follow Jesus? Sometimes “The Call” can be so subtle that we don’t recognise that God is calling us! Many of us hear God calling in the night! Would we give up what we are doing to turn and follow Jesus the Christ? Have we faithfully followed Jesus all our lives? Have we surrendered our lives to Jesus? Are we willing to follow, to change, to heal, to become who God would have us be? To follow the call that is written on our hearts? As we begin a New Year, let us reflect on these times in our lives! In Jesus words “Come Follow Me!” Blessings Deacon Di Prayer of the Week O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you: mercifully accept our prayers, and because through the weakness of our mortal nature we can do nothing good without you, grant us the help of your grace, that in keeping your commandments we may please you both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Copyright: Scripture quotations are from the New Revised Standard Version BIBLE, copyright ©1989 by the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA. AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE NOMINATORS: The Nominators are seeking suggestions from the parishioners, for potential priests’ names to be put forward in consideration for the position of parish Rector. There are many parishes at present without a priest. This reflects the current difficult situation which is making the search for a suitable priest a challenging one. Your assistance with names is valuable input for the Nominators. The Parish Nominators would like to inform the Parishioners, that since there doesn’t appear a suitable Priest for our Parish available at present in our Diocese, we have spread our search further afield into other Dioceses. Continue to pray for us please. Thank you for your support ST. CONTACTING THE OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR: Dear Parishioners, the best method to contact the parish office and to communicate with me is via email. I do have a hearing loss which means that certain tones of speech are more difficult than others to hear clearly over the phone. Rephrasing sentences, speaking clearly at a normal pace rather than rapidly all helps, though the best method to reach me is via email, caloundra@anglicanchurchsq.org.au. Thank you for your thoughtfulness & consideration, Rowena OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR: The office will open Mon-Fri 11am – 1pm for matters that need face to face attention. The use of the collection box and locked green box adjacent to the front door of the Parish Centre will continue to remain in use for items to be dropped off or collected. Thank you for your assistance, Office Administrator 6
