Through worship, the proclama"on of the Gospel, service, and the work of the New Evangeliza"on, we con"nue the reconciling ministry of Jesus Christ. Berkley, Michigan November 1, 2020 MASS WILL BE CELEBRATED ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND AT 8:45 A.M. and THE ANNUAL MASS OF REMEMBRANCE WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 AT 7:00 P.M. During this Mass a litany of the names of those who passed away within the last year will be read as a candle is lit and the bell is tolled. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will also be presented live on the parish website and Facebook page. During this beautiful liturgy we commend to God our family, friends and loved ones in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life. An Unborn Child and the Knights of Columbus How fitting that Pope Francis beatified Fr. Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus on October 31st. The miracle attributed to Fr. McGivney's intercession involves an unborn child and a very serious disease called fetal hydrops. Little Michael was diagnosed with this disease, but survived this ordeal and is a happy and healthy child today. You can read his story at kofc.org, and then join us for a Holy Hour on Monday night at 7 p.m. to thank God for the gift of life and pray for wisdom in the upcoming election.

The La Salette News, Berkley Page 3 Our statue of the blessed virgin Mary and the Child Jesus Our statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been in the parish for many decades. It was moved from the site near the school on Coolidge Highway to its new home on the south side of the church on Saturday, October 24, 2020. We will rededicate the statue on Sunday, November 15th, immediately after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The rededication is a few days before November 19th — our parish’s 96th anniversary.

People: Christ have mercy. Deacon: Lord have mercy. People: Lord have mercy. Gloria Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. First Reading REVELATION 7: 2-4, 9-14 I, John, saw another angel come up from the East, holding the seal of the living God. He cried out in a loud voice to the four angels who were given power to damage the land and the sea, “Do not damage the land or the sea or the trees until we put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” I heard the number of those who had been marked with the seal, one hundred and forty-four thousand marked from every tribe of the children of Israel. After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation comes from our God, who is seated on the throne, and from the Lamb.” All the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They prostrated themselves before the throne, worshiped God, and exclaimed: “Amen. Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, honor, power, and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen." Then one of the elders spoke up and said to me, “Who are these wearing white robes, and where did they come from?” I said to him, “My lord, you are the one who knows.” He said to me, “These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress; they have washed their robes and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb.” Psalm (Call and Response) PSALM 24: 1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6 To be spoken responsively, the people taking the part in boldface. The LORD’S is the earth and its fullness, the world, and those who dwell in it. It is he who set it on the seas; on the rivers he made it firm. Who shall climb the mountain of the LORD? Who shall stand in his holy place? The clean of hands and pure of heart, whose soul is not set on vain things. Blessings from the LORD shall he receive, and right reward from the God who saves him. Such are the people who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.
The La Salette News, Berkley Page 5 Second Reading 1 JOHN 3:1-3 Beloved: See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure. Gospel Acclamation ............................................................................................................................................. "%&*+ # @! Alleluia. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord. Alleluia. Gospel MATTHEW 5:1-12a When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.” Profession of Faith — The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, At the words that follow, up to and including the Virgin Mary, all bow. who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
